Russ Jones

Life Coach,

Russ has been helping adults with ADHD get unstuck and take action since 2020. Diagnosed with ADHD, depressive disorder, and anxiety disorder in 2015, he is no stranger to the monumental difficulty of 'getting started,' 'staying focused,' or finishing projects. Russ's philosophy; everyone is beautifully unique. Even if our struggles are deeply relatable, our approaches to productivity must be unique to our lives. Russ finds peace in humor and solace in connection. A massive component of his work is advocating for community; he firmly believes that shame-free, judgment-free accountability is how adults with ADHD accomplish great things. Managing ADHD is a team sport. When he isn't creating content for Insight Timer, Russ hosts the top 1.5% global podcast ADHD Big Brother and facilitates his highly engaged online community of the same name. But his ultimate fun thing to do is to hang out with his two sons, Noble and Alistair, create hilarious short films, play games (we are card game nerds), play dungeons and dragons, and get out into nature whenever possible.

Wow, do I feel seen!! You 💯described my getting out of the house and somewhere on time along with my mornings. The “real quick’s” was so validating too. Though I was diagnosed with ADD almost 20 years ago, I’m just now learning about “time blindness.” This past summer I was rediagnosed as ADD/ADHD combined-double whammy 🙄. Thank you for a great short talk and real solutions. Namaste 🙏🏻✨💜

You make a great case for body doubling, Russ, and I can vouch for it—it’s a brilliant strategy for moving from the knowing to the doing. Thank you!

My life is SO FULL. I am blessed to have such a beautiful life. I work full time, am in graduate school (4 classes plus assignments), have an internship, have a little one, am planning a wedding; after my classes this evening I was SPINNING. I honestly thought I was going to cry. I’m glad I found this because I wrote it ALL OUT on 2 pieces of paper. One just for school and the other for wedding + other life stuff. I feel like, “okay honestly I don’t have that many assignments until the end of the semester!” I color coded them 1) within the next 7 days 2) 7-14 days 3) 3 weeks-end of semester. I found that it was mostly school that was stressing me so hard, I was experiencing neck pain, clenching my teeth, tense, etc. I feel empowered to get things checked off. I totally got this. Time management is key. Thank you!!!

This was hard! I really had to challenge myself to come up with all of the things that I usually just let spin around in my mind. I liked the prompts - great resource for body doubling. One question though - I find writing by hand difficult because I have essential tremor. I can't write quickly enough to keep up with my thoughts. So I did the list on my computer, which worked fine. But I really like the idea of having a notebook that I can add things to later. Not sure how to resolve that. I just repeated this exercise on 10/4. Today I could have actually used more time to do my brain dump. But I like having it be a set/limited amount of time so I don't overthink it.

It truly amazes me how helpful body doubling is. Even when I'm just listening to a recording vs working with someone live. Thank you for making these recordings, Russ!

Love it!! What a great acronym - SET = Specificity, Easy point of entry, and Timer. I'm definitely using this 👍🏻
