Water Cascading Down A Mountain Slope (Olor Molor)

An exquisite rendering of a broken heart, this Armenian folk song depicts the water stream flowing down the mountain slope, as the backdrop for the tale of a betrayed lover. A letter with the gloomy news is presented by an emissary, but the lover, without even reading the message, sends the carrier back. “Go away! Fetch me a different letter,” he utters, remaining in solitude, disillusionment and fantasy, amidst the rural pastoral landscape.
