Fear | Rumi Poem
by Wood
This poem by Rumi hints at the inner battle between conflicting parts of ourselves when fear arises. In these moments, one part of us can withdraw, while another, just as vulnerable, stays, confronts the fear, and in doing so, grows stronger in self-understanding. Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, popularly known as "Rumi", is a 13th-century Sufi poet. Today, he is recognised as one of the greatest poets who ever lived, due in part to how his words seem to speak to the Divine. Translation by Coleman Barks.
