A Great Rose Tree | Rumi Poem
by Wood
In this poem by Rumi, the rose stands as a symbol of our innermost being, that true essence we carry in the heart. It is a sign of the potential within us to grow, transform, and return to a deeper source of truth. Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, popularly known as "Rumi", is a 13th-century Sufi poet. Today, he is recognised as one of the greatest poets who ever lived, due in part to how his words seem to speak to the divine. Translation by Coleman Barks.
