As I recite this poem, I wish for you to hear through my words the honest, yet compelling voice of Mary Oliver. How many days and nights of our lives have Mary's words leapt off the pages, gently at times - brutality honest in another sentence. "The Journey" commands you to trust yourself, release the chains of past hurts, violations, and attachments, which imprison our dreams and highest intentions. The fragility of our mortality is difficult to speak about. She assures us that it won't be easy, yet it's the only life we have worth living. Thank you for you. Namaste.

One day,

You finally knew what you had to do and began,

Though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice,

Though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles.

In my life,

Each voice cried,

But you didn't stop.

You knew what you had to do.

Though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations,

Though their melancholy was terrible,

It was already late enough and a wild night,

In the road full of fallen branches and stones.

But little by little,

As you left their voice behind,

The stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds.

And there was a new voice,

Which you slowly recognized as your own,

That kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world,

Determined to do the only thing you could do.

Determined to save the only life that you could save.

The Journey,

By Mary Oliver.

Lost my twin sister a few days ago so a painful road to walk at the moment. Found such beauty and comfort in these profound words. Blessings. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Perfect! Thank you for simply starting the poem without any announcement or introduction. The background music was such a great addition but not a distraction. Blessings to you!

I AM so blessed to have you all in my life. It is you who on a daily basis reinforces how my energy radiates off of you. Thank you for your smiles, the gestures of kindness which I receive quite often. I will always record from my heart, .allowing you to hear and feel my heart. Your pain is my pain. Allow me to absorb some of it. ๐Ÿ™.
