How To Use Mindful Eating To Lose Weight

With Justin Noppe

Interestingly enough, many mindfulness practices related to eating do not touch on this one concept, they instead rely on using your feelings and sensations in mindful ways, expecting the mindfulness to achieve a great result. However, the biggest issue is being around feelings of hunger and not trying to bypass these feelings, instead accepting them and using a specific mechanism to work in alignment with them. Which mechanism? Well, come on in and find out!

The Problems With Mindful Eating Advice

In this lesson, we discuss the big issues with weight loss advice from mindful communities. Well-intentioned, no doubt, but not truly effective as the advice is based on our brains and not our bodies. We go into some advice, some of the issues and what is in store for the rest of the course.

Lesson 3

The Details For Mindful Eating

In the previous lesson, we discussed the single biggest solution to mindful eating. In this track, we discuss the details of this too. Chewability discusses the concept of being mindful of your bites. We talk about chews per bite, calories per bite, ultra-processed vs whole food/unprocessed food, and its impact on chewability. The final thing to discuss is the texture of food. More crunchy textures usually force us to chew more, hence it is worth being mindful of that.

Lesson 4

The Formula For Mindful Eating

In this lesson, we discuss the willpower paradox. Using discipline is forcing change, whereas falling in love with the process is much more worthwhile and gets greater results. Being mindful of how much you chew your food, being mindful of changing the texture of your food to paste in your mouth. Be mindful of your choices to support your chewability. My recommendations to moving to a space of mindlessness is doing some other classic actions like weighing food in order to then automate your calories based on getting used to seeing what the calories look like.
