Once upon a time,
There was a girl who lived like the stars.
She felt so strange and lonely in the void.
It was very dark,
Not cold as one might imagine,
But she so terribly missed the company of her kin,
Other human beings.
But there was nothing she could do here,
So she might as well try to play with the stars,
Even though she was a bit afraid of their nature.
Much to the girl's surprise,
The stars knew how to talk to her.
She didn't even have to start the conversation.
A giant,
Shining star right next to her spoke with warmth and compassion.
We are made from the same dust,
You and I.
Don't be afraid of us.
You are a very dear guest here,
And you are only with us briefly before we send you back to Earth with our teachings.
So that you will never have to be fearful again,
Or feel lonely in the human world.
You feel scared because in your mind's eye,
We seem so far away as if we belong to a different world.
But really,
We are not far at all.
You see,
You are made of stardust yourself.
What do you mean?
Asked the girl.
I'm a human being,
Made of flesh and blood,
Living on the Earth.
The star replied,
If you look inside yourself,
You will find us there.
We are very close all the time.
The girl was puzzled.
What do you mean?
She asked again,
Though she was quite pleased that the star gave her answers so directly whenever she asked a question.
The only reason you don't believe in the star magic within yourself,
Is because you think we are strangers,
Distant,
Twinkling,
Made of something special and unreachable.
You think we are not even alive.
Or perhaps you imagine us as ancestors from long ago watching you from above.
You believe in us at night,
But forget that we are also there in the day,
Even when your human eyes cannot see.
But if you knew our magic,
That we are very much alive and very close,
You could begin to use your own star magic right now.
How do I do that?
The girl asked,
Feeling more and more like a child who keeps asking her wise parent about everything in the world.
You must learn the art of the invisible.
You must shapeshift to know the magic.
You must learn to see with your heart.
Be blind as a human and see with the stars inside you.
Some days it will look like a bird tending its young.
One day it will be the first breath of spring.
On another it will greet you like the scent of the coming autumn.
Sometimes it will look like a wise old woman,
Sometimes a newborn baby.
Sometimes it will be a spark in the eyes of someone you love,
Or the feeling of tears streaming down your very own cheeks.
But you will always recognize us because we shine from within.
This will take practice.
We have had millions of years of practice.
That is why we shine all the time for all life on earth and always stay here to guide you.
But when you begin to see through the eyes of your heart,
You will start to feel the magic inside.
It might begin as a little sparkle,
But it will grow and grow and grow until it becomes the warm glow of a thousand love stories waiting to happen.
And they will happen all on their own without you having to do anything but receive them when they arrive.
That is when you will know the real magic of being made from stardust.
That is when you will stop being afraid because now you too can see in the dark.
The girl thanked the star for his wisdom and returned to earth.
She already felt a million particles of joy bubbling inside her at the mere thought of that possibility.
