Highlights

  • Seven nights at a private luxury lodge overlooking Ireland's only fjord

Details

The Lantern of Companionship is a seven-night women’s retreat in the wild beauty of Connemara, Ireland, created as a space to slow down, come home to yourself, and rediscover what becomes possible when we gather in meaningful community. Set between mountains and sea on the shores of Killary Fjord, our private lodge becomes home for a week of contemplative practice, embodied exploration, laughter, movement, rest and genuine connection. Through meditation, yoga, breathwork, somatic practices, ritual, music and time immersed in the Irish landscape, we explore companionship in its many forms: our relationship with ourselves, with one another, with the natural world, and with the deeper currents that help us find our way. The Lantern of Companionship grows from a simple understanding: we are not meant to navigate every season of our lives alone. There are times when another person’s presence becomes a light beside our own, reminding us of what we know, what we have forgotten, and what we are becoming. This retreat is designed to hold both depth and spaciousness. There will be opportunities for reflection and inner work alongside adventure, beauty, shared meals, music, movement and joy. You do not need to arrive with a particular level of experience in meditation, yoga or breathwork. You are invited to arrive exactly as you are.

Meals are an integral part of the retreat experience and an expression of the care woven throughout our week together. Our retreat chef, Eileen, thoughtfully creates nourishing, beautiful meals using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, celebrating the abundance and flavors of the west of Ireland. Food is also part of our commitment to trauma-informed care. We recognize that nourishment is deeply personal, and participants should not have to defend, explain, or feel self-conscious about what their bodies need. Eileen does her very best to accommodate dietary needs and preferences with advance notice, creating meals that allow each woman to feel considered and cared for at the table. Meals are generous, wholesome, and meant to be enjoyed together. The table becomes another gathering place for conversation, laughter, connection, and the simple pleasure of being nourished in good company.

Schedule

Our days follow a spacious rhythm of practice, nourishment, exploration, and rest. Mornings generally begin with meditation, breathwork, or gentle movement, followed by breakfast and our morning gathering. Some days invite us into deeper retreat practices at the lodge, while others take us into the extraordinary landscape of Connemara for hiking, cultural experiences, and time in nature. Afternoons include a balance of guided experiences and unstructured time to rest, journal, receive an optional treatment, wander, or simply enjoy the lodge and surrounding landscape. Evenings bring us back together for nourishing meals, restorative practices, song, ritual, reflection, and community. The schedule is intentionally spacious and responsive. Activities may shift with weather, energy, and the needs of the group, allowing us to experience Ireland without rushing through it.

Testimonials

info

The support and nourishment offered in this retreat began long before we all landed in Ireland… I felt genuinely held from the very beginning

Alison B., United States

I found a sisterhood and connection with a group of women with whom I shared my innermost thoughts and fears. I gained insights about myself, but more importantly, I gained friends.

KT, United States

I loved the quiet mornings, gentle yoga, delicious food, day trips to the countryside, sharing circles, laughter and a few tears. Each day had a theme which opened my heart and mind to possibilities. Avantika created an atmosphere that was a gentle invitation to listen to oneself, share if you felt compelled to, and to witness others’ stories.
