Details

"At the Source" is a 6-night, 7-day yoga retreat in Rishikesh, India — the town on the banks of the Ganga where yoga's living tradition began. It's built for certified yoga teachers and experienced practitioners who want to deepen their practice at its roots, not spend a week by a pool. Each day centers on a full arc of practice: morning Hatha or Vinyasa to build heat and awareness, evening Yin to soften and integrate. Alongside the daily sessions, we run a hands-on Thai Yoga Massage workshop and open conversations on alignment, adjustment, and how philosophy actually shows up in how you teach and practice — not just as theory. Beyond the mat, the week moves through Rishikesh itself: the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony on the riverbank, a sunrise climb to Kunjapuri Temple overlooking the Himalayan foothills, and a visit to the sacred confluence at Devprayag, where two rivers become the Ganga. These aren't sightseeing add-ons — they're part of how the week builds toward something felt, not just learned. We keep the group small, capped at 15 people, and both of us — Ankit Chauhan and Hannah Pfeffer, E-RYT 500 — teach every session personally. Nothing is handed off to rotating staff. Teachers who complete the retreat can log 20 hours of YACEP continuing education credit. And if English isn't your first language, Hannah is a native German speaker and happy to support you directly in German throughout the week. This isn't designed around beginners discovering yoga for the first time — it's for people who already have a practice and want to trace it back to where it started. That said, a strong, consistent home practice matters more than a specific certification, so if you're unsure whether this is the right level for you, reach out before booking.

Meals

Meals provided

Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner

Diets catered

Vegetarian

All meals are vegetarian, home-style Indian cooking, prepared fresh daily using local, seasonal ingredients. Meals are timed around the practice schedule — light and easy to digest before morning sessions, more substantial in the evening. Vegan and gluten-free adjustments are available on request; just let us know when you book.

Schedule

Each day opens with an early practice — Hatha or Vinyasa — followed by breakfast and free time to rest, journal, or explore. Midday includes a workshop session (Thai Yoga Massage, alignment and adjustment, or philosophy discussion, rotating through the week). Afternoons are unstructured until the evening Yin practice, which winds the day down. Excursions — the Ganga Aarti ceremony, the Kunjapuri Temple sunrise hike, and the trip to Devprayag — are built into the week rather than treated as optional extras, and the schedule adjusts around them.
