Meet your Teacher

Dr Rachel David is a trained scientist and science communicator, and a yoga teacher. She writes about the science of yoga and runs training workshops for yoga teachers and interested participants, with an emphasis on how yoga and other mind-body practices support our wellbeing. She is particularly interested in psychoneuroimmunology, which is the study of how the mind, nervous system and immune system are connected – which has close links with sleep.

A gentle physical yoga practice could be a lovely way to end your day and help you sleep better when you actually go to bed, by stretching your muscles, relieving tension, and helping you feel less stressed and more relaxed. This is a simple yoga practice that you can try after work.

Short Grounding Meditation

Incorporating meditation and other still practices could also help us feel more ready for sleep and/or sleep better. This is a short, grounding meditation that you can do any time to find a moment of stillness in your day.

Yoga Nidra For Sleep 1

This is a yoga nidra practice specifically designed to help you sleep, although you can use it any time you like. If you are not using it for sleep, set an alarm clock for 20 minutes to bring you back.

Yoga Nidra Sleep Companion 2

This is the second yoga nidra practice in this course, which again is designed to help you fall asleep and doesn't bring you back at the end. If you are not practicing for sleep but just to relax, set an alarm clock for 20 minutes.
