The Anxious Person's Guide To Boundaries

With Brooke James

If you're constantly anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out from overextending yourself, this 12-day course will teach you how to set boundaries that you can actually maintain. You'll learn to tune into what your body is trying to tell you, understand how anxiety points to where boundaries are needed, and create sustainable limits that let you show up as the person you want to be, without abandoning yourself. Through daily reflections and journal prompts, we'll explore the real stuff: the grief that comes with saying no, the identity shift of not always being "the helper," and how to communicate boundaries through your actions, not just your words. If you're recovering from burnout, stuck in people-pleasing, or just exhausted from always picking up what others drop, this is your roadmap back to breathing room.

Lesson 1

Tuning Into The Body

Sustainable boundaries start from the inside out. In this first session, you'll slow down, connect with your body's signals, and take honest inventory of where your energy is going. Awareness is the first step toward boundaries that actually hold.

Lesson 2

Anxiety As A Signal

Anxiety isn't the enemy of boundaries; it's often the signal that one is needed. In this session, you'll explore how to recognize anxiety as information and build your willingness to tolerate the discomfort that comes with honoring your own limits.

Lesson 3

What It Has Cost You

Before we can change our boundaries, we have to get honest about what the current ones are costing us. In this session, you'll take inventory of the physical, emotional, and relational toll of sacrificing what's not okay with you.

Lesson 4

What Was Modeled For You

Our first lessons about boundaries came long before we could name them. In this session, you'll reflect on what was, and wasn't, modeled in your family of origin, and claim your agency to choose something different as an adult.

Lesson 5

Actions Over Words

Many believe that boundaries are set with communication only. Communication matters, and there is a place for it. And yet, boundaries are often not heard until they are demonstrated. Boundaries aren't understood until you take action, by stopping, stepping back, or not showing up. In this session, you'll learn why your actions speak louder than your words. *Disclaimer: If you want to set boundaries in a relationship where there is violence or safety concerns, this is a situation that requires specific attention and care.

Lesson 6

This Is Okay. This Is Not.

Identifying your boundaries starts with a simple question: what is okay with me, and what is not? In this session, you'll work through a straightforward framework across four areas of your life, physical, emotional, mental, and relational, to begin naming where your lines actually are.

Lesson 7

Repetition Is Part Of It

Setting a boundary once is rarely enough. Like learning a new golf swing or a phone number, boundary setting takes repetition before it becomes natural. In this session, you'll normalize the practice of doing it more than once and prepare yourself mentally for the friction that comes with doing something different.

Lesson 8

Language For Boundaries

Boundaries live in your actions, but having the right words helps you get there. In this session, you'll practice language that keeps you on your side of the fence, focused on what you are willing to do rather than what you need others to change.

Lesson 9

Breathing Room

Boundaries don't have to be set from exhaustion. When you wait until you're at the end of your rope, boundaries come out like hammers. In this session, you'll explore what it looks like to set boundaries with enough room to still be the person you are aiming to be.

Lesson 10

The Loss That Comes With Boundaries

Setting a boundary can mean a relationship changes, a need gets met somewhere else, or a version of your life you worked hard for has to be left behind. This grief is real, and it's often what keeps people from setting boundaries at all. In this session, you'll name what loss might be waiting on the other side of your boundary, and why acknowledging it is part of the process.

Lesson 11

Where You Draw Your Value

Boundaries become nearly impossible when your sense of worth is tied to always giving, always showing up, always being the steady one. In this session, you'll take an honest look at where your identity and value come from, and how self-abandonment can quietly become the norm.

Lesson 12

Your Starting Place

Boundaries are allowed to change as you do. But you need a starting place. In this final session, you'll identify what you can and cannot handle today, and step into the real work of trialing your boundaries in your actual life. You did the work. Now it begins.
