Meditation Is Simpler Than You Think

With Jungjin Moon

Most people don't struggle with meditation. They struggle with what they think meditation should be. This five-lesson course is for beginners and anyone unsure how to meditate. You'll learn to let go of “doing it right” and begin meditating with ease. In this course, we’ll explore five questions: “What Am I Supposed to Do?” “Do I Have to Sit Cross-Legged?” “How Do I Stop Thinking?” “Am I Doing It Right?” and “What If I Don’t Have Time?” The lessons include short teachings and simple guided practices. Each lesson also includes a recommendation for a longer guided meditation on Jungjin’s profile, if you would like more support. By the end of this course, you’ll discover that meditation is simpler than you think.

Lesson 1

What Am I Supposed To Do?

Meditation isn't about "doing" anything. It's about noticing what's already happening from moment to moment. In this lesson, you will practice noticing sounds, physical sensations, your breath, and thoughts. If you'd like more practice noticing the sensations in your body, listen to my guided meditation 'Thank You Body: Loving Body Scan'.

Lesson 2

Do I Have To Sit Cross-Legged?

There is no single correct posture for meditation. In this lesson, you're invited to explore different postures and props so that your body can feel more comfortable. Meditation does not require you to ignore physical discomfort or force yourself to remain in a posture that doesn't feel safe for you.

Lesson 3

How Do I Stop Thinking?

Thoughts are a natural part of meditation. In this lesson, you will practice noticing when your attention has wandered and returning to the present moment. If you would like more guidance with observing your thoughts, listen to my guided meditation, 'You Can't Control Your Thoughts'.

Lesson 4

Am I Doing It Right?

There's no such thing as a perfect meditation. There's only the practice of meeting yourself as you are. In this lesson, we'll explore how we judge or evaluate our practice and learn to make space for whatever we experience. If you'd like support in feeling more at ease with your practice, listen to my guided meditation 'Meditation Is Your Most Natural State'.

Lesson 5

What If I Don’t Have Time?

Meditation does not always require a quiet space and uninterrupted time. In this lesson, you're invited to make meditation a part of your everyday life. If you'd like support in returning to the present moment during your day, listen to my guided meditation, 'Focus Reset: 5 Min Return To The Present Moment'.
