Why forgive?   Because holding a place of “I am not willing to forgive”, you are affecting your own well-being, physically, emotionally and spiritually.   People often hold back on forgiveness because they think it condones betrayal or abuse from the other person.   It doesn’t.   However, as long as you resist forgiveness, you are giving the other person or situation power over you. You are allowing yourself to be held hostage.   BUT! Forgiveness is one of the most difficult lessons we have to learn. Until we can move into forgiveness we are stuck in our stuff. No matter how justified we feel we are to have our resentments and hatreds, it still hurts us. We cannot bring good into our own lives as long as we are sitting in our prisons of “self-righteous resentment”.   For our growth and healing we must rise above our need to stay hurt and let go of the past. Forgiveness is truly a gift to yourself, and miracles happen when you forgive, or are even willing to forgive. Forgiveness - Where To Begin?

Today starts with a short meditation to prepare us to begin the forgiveness process. I will then share a short awareness practice to gently introduce you to forgiveness work. Even if you have done forgiveness work before, you can always go to another level. We have never “done it all”. Lesson 3

Forgive Yourself

Sometimes, the most difficult person to forgive is yourself. During today's lesson, I will take you through an exercise and meditation to assist you in forgiving yourself for everything you feel guilt and maybe shame for. It's time to forgive yourself and set yourself free.

Lesson 4

Release The Guilt And Anger

Before we get to the forgiveness work today, we need to consider two underlying emotions. The first is guilt when it comes to forgiving ourselves. And the second one is anger (and resentment) towards the people or situations we need to forgive. If we bypass these emotions, the forgiveness process is likely to be incomplete. Releasing your anger doesn’t hurt anyone else or put negative vibrations into the Universe – it releases you! Lesson 5

Forgiveness - The Key To Freedom

It takes a lot of courage to be willing to forgive. And, as Louise Hay always said, we are never done. This Martin Luther King Jr is perfect for today; “Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.” Have you ever written an anger letter? It is is very powerful and such a freeing exercise. I will gently guide you to write your letter and experience the letting go and freedom that forgiveness can bring you. Lesson 6

Childhood Family And Relationships Forgiveness

First of all today, I will share a powerful childhood family exercise that you will need to have an extra chair by you to use. No matter how loving, we know we didn’t grow up in perfect families. When we are under stress and not totally centred, most of us have a way of reacting to situations. To change any unwanted patterns that come up for us, we need to forgive our parents or other caregivers AND understand that we don’t need to repeat this old behaviour. I will close today's lesson with a Letting Go Meditation.

Ho'oponopono

Trigger warning - this lesson contains references to themes of killing and someone being shot which some individuals may find distressing. One of the most powerful forgiveness techniques is the Ho'oponopono prayer, an ancient Hawaiian Kahuna practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. The practice teaches the importance of love and forgiveness through a process that allows the participant to rid themselves of burdens. We will look at this ancient practice and see how it can be applied to modern life. This 10 day course is so powerful! I released so much doing the exercises and meditations. I remember LH saying these are powerful exercises and good to do at least once a week to clear out any remaining rubbish. I hope to incorporate into my weekly routine. I have just finished this course on forgiveness. It was so eye opening. I have always swept painful memories and feelings under the carpet and I was very surprised that I had built up so much resentment and hurt relating to past events. The person I needed to forgive the most was myself. Using work by Louise Hay Liz guides us through a number of powerful exercises to gently work through forgiveness which leads to release and healing. I didn’t realise how much I needed this course. I shall continue with affirmations and may well do the course again as forgiveness is a process which takes time.
