COURSE

Freeze, Safety & Gentle Change

With Klea Miza (Growing Through Love)

Healing isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about discovering what happens when we ask a little less of ourselves. In this seven-day course, we'll explore what it means to live more gently with a freeze response and a nervous system that may become overwhelmed more easily than you'd like. Together, we'll look at why making things just a little easier can sometimes create more capacity than pushing harder; why low-capacity days are a normal part of nervous system functioning; and why attention naturally moves in and out of contact rather than staying present all the time. We'll also explore the difference between gentle awareness and self-monitoring, how freeze and people-pleasing often become intertwined in relationships, and why the pressure to heal "the right way" can become another form of stress. Throughout the course, you'll be invited to replace urgency with curiosity, perfection with flexibility, and self-criticism with a little more understanding. Finally, we'll reflect on one of the most important realities of healing: it isn't linear. Protective responses may return during times of stress, and that doesn't erase your progress. Healing is often less about never freezing again and more about meeting yourself differently when you do. This course isn't about fixing yourself or following the perfect routine. It's an invitation to understand your nervous system with greater compassion, to respect your capacity as it changes from day to day, and to discover that sometimes the gentlest approach is also the most supportive. You can take these ideas at your own pace, keeping what resonates and leaving the rest.

Lesson 1

Making Things 5% Easier

What if the goal isn't to try harder, but to make things just a little easier? In this session, we'll explore how the nervous system responds to demand and why reducing pressure (even by a small amount) can sometimes create more capacity than pushing through. We’ll see how softening urgency, increasing choice, and adjusting expectations may support a nervous system experiencing overwhelm, one small step at a time.

Lesson 2

When Nothing Seems To Work

What if the days when nothing seems to help aren't signs of failure? In this session, we'll explore why low-capacity days are a natural part of nervous system functioning and why even supportive practices can sometimes feel like too much. We’ll learn how periods of overwhelm may reduce your available capacity, and why responding with less pressure (rather than more effort) can be a compassionate way to meet yourself where you are.

Lesson 3

Why The System Naturally Moves In And Out Of Contact

Your nervous system isn't meant to stay fully present all the time. In this session, we'll explore how attention naturally moves in and out of contact, and why this flexibility can be part of healthy regulation. We’ll see why drifting, pausing, or focusing on neutral experiences isn't necessarily avoidance - it may be your nervous system supporting itself in the way it needs most.

Lesson 4

Tracking Without Forcing

Can paying attention ever be too much? In this session, we'll explore the difference between gentle awareness and self-monitoring, and why noticing your inner experience isn't always supportive. We’ll learn how awareness depends on nervous system capacity, why neutral experiences matter, and how stepping back can sometimes be just as regulating as leaning in.

Lesson 5

Loosing Yourself In Relationships

Why do freeze and people-pleasing so often go together? In this session, we'll explore how the nervous system may prioritize connection by adapting, avoiding conflict, or putting others' needs first. We’ll learn how these protective patterns can eventually lead to shutdown, withdrawal, or overwhelm, and why understanding them with compassion can be a more supportive starting point than self-criticism.

Lesson 6

You Don't Have To Get Healing Right

What if healing doesn't have to be done perfectly? In this session, we'll explore how the pressure to heal "the right way" can become another source of stress for the nervous system. We’ll learn why consistency isn't the same as worth, why capacity naturally changes over time, and how choice, flexibility, and self-compassion can support healing more than perfection ever could.

Lesson 7

Living Gently With Freeze (When Healing Isn’t Linear)

Healing isn't about never freezing again. In this final session, we'll explore why freezing can return during times of stress without erasing your progress. Rather than measuring healing by perfect regulation, you'll be invited to view it as a growing capacity to respond with more understanding, less urgency, and greater self-compassion. A gentle reminder that healing isn't linear - and that you never have to start from zero.
