Breaking Free From Scarcity Mindset

We're surrounded by scarcity. It's rooted in our language from the simple: "I didn't get enough sleep," and "there's never enough time," to the metaphoric "money doesn't grow on trees." We find ourselves embedded in a belief that life is a struggle and find ourselves living in a state of lack haunted by a persistent fear of not having enough—doing enough—or being enough. In this 10-session audio course, we will examine the nature of a scarcity mindset, recognize when it's activated, and learn practical skills to help us shift from scarcity to abundance in our mindset and our experience of life. Turning to the fields of psychology, ayurveda, and yoga philosophy, we will explore how to break through the limiting nature of a scarcity mindset and enter the spaciousness of abundance and flow. You'll learn tools for recognizing when and how scarcity mindset is showing up for you and strategies for soothing the nervous system. You'll also receive guided practices to help you bring information into your body, offering you a direct experience of how to break free from a scarcity mindset and embody abundance.


Meet your Teacher

Patty Hlava, Ph.D. brings over 25 years of experience of study and practice in the fields of self-actualization and transpersonal psychology to support you on your embodiment, self-love, and healing journey. She is an expert at guiding others in discovering their authentic voice and awakening to the richness of life. In addition to her 15-year history as a mental health professional, Patty also holds certifications as a Meditation Instructor, Ayurveda Wellness Counselor, Yoga Teacher, Reiki practitioner, Yoga Health Coach, and Intrinsic Coach. In 2018, she retired from her clinical psychotherapy practice to develop AwakenPeace Healing, where she offers online courses, workshops, and events. Patty holds a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology with a focus on the exploration of gratitude in relationships. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Transpersonal Psychology, Journal of Humanistic Psychology, and several books. In addition to her mentoring work with clients and training services, she serves as adjunct faculty at Sofia University, teaching graduate-level courses in Transpersonal psychology. Lesson 1

The Room Of The Mind

This session lays the foundation for the course, providing a broad overview of the scarcity mindset and suggestions for how to get the most from this experience. We'll enter the room of the mind and begin to explore the nature of a scarcity mindset from both an intellectual and embodied view. We'll see how this deceptive lens of limitation can lead to feelings of anxiety, powerlessness, and hopelessness. We'll move together through self-assessment practice to help us connect with where scarcity mindset may be present in the corners of our subconscious.

The Window Of Awareness

In this session, you'll delve deeper into understanding what scarcity mindset is, and grow our awareness of how it affects our ability to access flow in our lives. You'll enjoy a guided visualization to connect with the Circle of Flow—a state of abundance—and identify how you might find yourself pulled out of it. You'll gain greater clarity on your current relationship with scarcity and abundance, preparing you for the next steps toward transforming your mindset.

Lesson 3

The Window Of Language

Language is a powerful tool, and often we have little awareness of how we're using it to support—or shift a way of thinking, perceiving, and feeling. In this session, we'll go a little deeper and explore the power of language and how it feeds our perception of scarcity and our felt experience in the body and heart. You will move through a guided practice to help connect with how language affects the body and your ability to access states of flow and ease in the mind—and in your life experiences.

Lesson 4

The Window Of Trust

Fear and shame are common emotional experiences that show up when we are under the spell of a scarcity mindset. In this session, we'll go a little deeper into the body and the heart as we open the window of trust. You'll explore the role of fear, perfectionism, and shame in relationship to scarcity and abundance. You will then move through a guided practice to support a transition from the grip of fear to a present-moment sense of grounded connection where you can invite ease into the body and expanding your capacity for trust

Lesson 5

The Window For Your Inner Child

In this session, we'll create a connection with a forgotten and neglected part of ourselves that can keep us locked in feelings of not-enoughness. In this session, you'll have the opportunity to attune to the heart of your inner child, where the scarcity mindset often lives. We'll explore cravings and how they can guide us toward living in alignment with an abundance mindset. You'll be guided through a gentle practice of communing with your inner child, learning the valuable skill of caring for this tender part of your self and creating a new opening for an abundant mindset to take root.

Lesson 6

The Window Of Spaciousness

In this session, we'll create a window of spaciousness in the room of our mindset as we play with the practice of clearing and releasing. You will learn the process of striking a balance in gathering and releasing and began the process of clearing space for abundance to flow. You'll be guided through a practice to embody the experience of letting go physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically.

Lesson 7

The Window Of Gratitude

Feeling and expressing gratitude are powerful practices in transforming our worldview from scarcity to abundance. In this session, we will connect with the transformative power of gratitude as a pathway to cultivate an experience of inner abundance. You will be guided through a gentle practice of connecting with opportunities for receiving with a full heart, further distancing the shadow of a scarcity mindset.

Lesson 8

The Window Of Non-Attachment

Attachment is at the heart of a scarcity mindset. In this session, we go deeper into an exploration of the emotional nature of scarcity mindset as we enter the space of aparigraha—the practice of non-attachment and forgiveness. Here we can become masters in letting go and allowing flow. You'll be guided through a practice to help break free from emotional entanglements that keep you trapped under the shadow of a scarcity mindset.

Lesson 9

The Window Of Pleasure Kama

Play and pleasure are vital ingredients in the cultivation of an abundance mindset. In this session, we'll connect deeply with our senses and explore the art of receiving and experiencing joy and pleasure. You'll identify patterns of resistance and simple strategies for moving through these blocks. This session closes with a guided exploration connecting with experiences of joy in the body.

Lesson 10

The Window Of Embodiment

In this final session, we take in the awareness, insights, and skills that you've cultivated through this journey and move toward cultivating a state of open receptivity—an abiding sense of ease. We close with a guided practice to release scarcity mindset from the body and invite abundance. We will increase our capacity for holding and receiving the gifts of life as we embody a new mindset: a mindset of abundance and flow.

The content of this course was mostly really good or even great, but I was continuously frustrated by the challenge to understand what was being said. Many phrases ended with almost an inaudible mumble even when I had the volume all the way up. This is not a problem I have had with any other course on insight timer in over five years on the platform. I would encourage you to re-record at a higher volume and enunciate more clearly to make this a great course.

Great for a new beginner to mindfulness and meditation. I find the talks to be helpful before the meditations however when you get to the meditation.. it can be too short. The talk part being longer than the actual meditation.
