I sometimes have trouble finding teachers on here who really *get* me, ones I feel I could have a spirited, convivial, and simply fun time grabbing coffee with. I dropped in on one of Clare’s lives once completely at random simply because I had a bit of downtime. I was charmed by her candor, and she cracked me up. A few months later, I found myself coming back to her short tracks on overwhelm over and over, and a few months later yet I took the plunge with this course. I rarely finish courses on this app and have never found myself doing more than one lesson per day, but this course changed everything. I was having so much fun with it that I simply couldn’t stop; I completed all 10 sessions within a few days, and I’ve almost finished doing this with a second course of hers. She brings a combination of vulnerability and wit to her practices that can be challenging to find in spaces like these; I love that she surrenders to flow and tangents and seems to sincerely have fun recording. Finding out she used to be a teacher in a traditional academic setting sealed the deal for me as a newly-minted college professor who often finds herself saying, “Wait, this is what I’ve wanted all this time!? This was supposed to make my life perfect!” Instead of feeling guilty, depressed, or any number of things about these thoughts, though, Clare makes me laugh and reminds me that these thoughts are not my failure, but rather my strength. This really helped my overactive negative shame spiral that I have been in. Clare explains things just beautifully in a way that deeply resonates.
