Slow Rituals: Nervous System Care For Stress And Burnout

With Nia O

What would it be like to no longer rush from one thing to the next? What would it be like to have small yet meaningful practices that offer ease, slowness, and repair throughout your day? Welcome to 7 Days of Slow Rituals. In this course, you're welcome to explore slowness in the body through short guided meditations, daily rituals or practices, and guided reflection prompts. Together we explore presence, nourishing our bodies, creating altars or sacred spaces and more. Each day, you are welcome to center and dedicate moments to your well-being. When we move slowly, we can teach our bodies safety, compassion, and presence. With the systems that we live in pushing us towards urgency, the intention for this course is to share different ways of rewiring the brain. You may wish to dedicate time in the morning or evening, or you can divide the practices into micro-practices throughout your day. This is a slow course, so if you take more than seven days to complete it, that is also a part of the practice. You can return at any time. This course is rooted in mindfulness practice, And each meditation is supported by gentle sound compositions. This course is also created as a direct result of Nia's lived experience with chronic health conditions and the healing effects of slow rituals to support her. Through introducing more slow, intentional practices, we can tend to the parasympathetic part of our nervous system, which offers our bodies repair, digest, and rest. Words, sound composition and production by Nia O.

Meet your Teacher

Nia O is a 300-hour trauma-sensitive meditation guide, entrepreneur, and sound artist. As a creative, social entrepreneur, she understands how managing multiple priorities and navigating the systems that push towards hyper-productivity and speed can impact the body and mind. This course was written and produced from her direct lived experience of the effects of chronic illness and stress. Much of this course was recorded while she was unable to get out of bed or sit upright-- indicative of her need to move slowly and to build care practices to support her. Through meditation and sound composition, she transmutes her experience into reminding others of the healing effects of slowing down.
