3 Hours Provence Cicadas & Lavender Fields for Sleep & Calm
by Mary Graham
Take a seat on the lounge chair beneath the olive tree. Feel the warm wood under your hands, the dappled shade moving across your skin. In front of you, rows of lavender stretch to the horizon, deep purple against the golden summer light. On the little table beside you rests a tall glass of chilled lavender drink, cool and beaded with condensation. Now breathe in. The air is warm and still, heavy with the scent of lavender and sun warmed earth. And all around you, rising and falling through the heat, the slow song of the cicadas. Let that sound settle over you. It quiets a racing mind, softens tension in the body, and loosens the grip of stress and anxiety. There is nothing to follow and nothing to do. You simply sink deeper and let a slow Provençal summer hold you. Let it carry you into deep, restful sleep, or play it through the day to come back to calm. Ideal for sleep, easing anxiety, relaxation, and meditation. Close your eyes, breathe out, and stay a while.
