Welcome to your Yoga Nidra practice for deep relaxation.
Please start lying down with your head and neck and spine aligned.
Making sure your spine is straight and you're not turned to the left or the right.
Make sure that you're comfortable,
So please lie on a soft surface,
Such as a folded blanket,
And maybe placing a blanket on top of you.
A cushion under your head if you need it.
A bolster or rolled up blankets under your knees.
And as you settle into this place of deep comfort and rest,
You can close or soften your eyes and allow your breath to be smooth and slow without any noise or pauses.
Allow your attention to move through your head and face,
Including the top of the head,
Forehead.
Eyebrows,
Eyes,
Cheekbones and nostrils.
Be aware of the breath at the nostrils for several breaths.
Continue to survey your mouth and your jaw and your chin.
Then let your awareness move to your neck and throat.
Your shoulders,
Arms,
Elbows,
Wrists,
Hands,
Fingers,
And fingertips.
Feel as though you are inhaling from the tips of the fingers up to the shoulders and then exhaling back to the fingertips.
Breathe like this for a few rounds.
Then move your attention from the fingers back through the hands,
Wrists,
Lower arms,
Upper arms,
Shoulders,
Upper back,
And chest.
Concentrate at the center of your chest.
And exhale and inhale completely here a few times.
Be aware of your stomach,
Your abdomen.
Your lower back.
Hips,
Thighs,
Knees,
Calves.
Ankles,
Feet and toes.
Exhale as if your whole body is exhaling.
And inhale as if your whole body is inhaling.
As you breathe out,
Let go of all tension,
Worries and anxieties.
Inhale as if you are inhaling new energy.
As well as a sense of peace and relaxation.
Exhale and inhale for a few rounds.
Become aware of your toes again and move your awareness from your toes to your feet.
Ankles,
Calves,
Thighs,
Knees,
Hips,
Lower back,
Abdomen,
Stomach and chest.
Hold your awareness at the center of your chest and exhale and inhale completely here.
Become aware of your upper back,
Shoulders,
Upper arms,
Lower arms,
Wrists,
Hands,
Fingers,
And fingertips.
Feel as though you are inhaling from the tips of the fingers up to the shoulders and then exhaling back to your fingertips.
Breathe like this for a few rounds.
Then move your attention from your fingers back through the hands,
Wrists,
Lower arms,
Upper arms,
Shoulders,
Neck.
Throat,
Chin,
Jaw,
Mouth and nostrils.
Be aware of your breath at the nostrils.
Move your attention to your cheekbones,
Eyes,
Eyebrows,
Forehead,
And the top of your head.
Allow your awareness to be at the smooth,
Slow,
Serene flow of your breath.
Allow your mind to make a gentle conscious effort to guide your breath so that it is smooth and calm and deep.
Without any pauses or interruptions.
Remain in that deep stillness and silence.
Slowly become aware of the deep stillness and silence.
Become aware of the relative quietness of your mind.
Become aware of the smoothness of your breath.
And the stillness of your physical body.
Bring the deep stillness and silence with you as you slowly start to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Eventually moving your body as you wish.
And roll to your right side.
Making your way up to a comfortable seat and slowly begin to open your eyes.
The Yoga Nidra practice is complete.
You might like to quietly return to your day or take a few minutes for meditation or a contemplation practice.
