This beautiful poem about grief titled "The Thing Is" by Ellen Bass has helped me feel less alone in my grief. I hope it does the same for you. I am a firm believer that art and poetry can feed and be a balm for our souls. They can put words to things we may not be able to articulate on our own. They can make the terrible and hard things beautiful.

The thing is by Ellen Bass to love life to love it even when you have no stomach for it and Everything you've held dear crumbles like burnt paper in your hands Your throat filled with the silt of it when grief sits with you It's tropical heat thickening the air heavy as water more fit for gills than lungs When grief weighs you down like your own flesh only more of it an obesity of grief You think how can a body withstand this then you hold life like a face between your palms a plain face No,

Charming smile,

No violet eyes,

And you say yes,

I will take you.

I will love you again Thank you for taking the time out of your day to listen to that poem by Lynn Bass.

It is one of my favorites and I really hope that it offered something to you some comfort in your grief and I wish you the best on your healing journey,

And I want to thank you for joining me today for this short little meditative reading
