With so many different types of yoga (often listed on a schedule rather than explained), it might be confusing to know what you're getting yourself into. If you're wondering what to expect, experience, and even what to wear to a Vinyasa yoga class, this short 2-minute explanation is for you!

There are so many different types of yoga,

And it's really important to know what type of class you're going to when you sign up.

If you see a vinyasa yoga class,

I would expect something that's similar to a workout.

It's very dynamic,

There's a lot of movement,

And it's going to be more fast-paced.

It's meant to link each movement with a breath.

You're not gonna have a lot of rigid pauses,

So it's meant to be more of a flow type of class,

Again,

Linking each movement with breath.

And sometimes this can get a little confusing for some people because in a yoga class that is not only a vinyasa class,

You might hear,

Now you can take your vinyasa,

Which is the typical flow when you go from a plank,

Chaturanga,

Up dog,

Downward facing dog.

So typically that is also in a vinyasa class,

But it can also be found in other classes as well.

So those are to not be confused.

There's definitely a lot of cardio going on in these classes as well.

And often you can find these in a heated room.

These classes might be a little bit more physically demanding so if you're looking for something where you're just going to be more meditative and relaxing and slowing down then this one wouldn't be for you.

But if you're looking to kind of get your heart rate up to go into the flow state and really lock in with your body then this one would be for you.

This one can sometimes be a little bit more difficult for beginners because the instructor might just be calling out different poses that you need to flow into since it is a bit more fast paced.

I would be wearing more of a supportive outfit than maybe a hoodie and some nice baggy pants.

I hope this helps and enjoy your next vinyasa flow.
