Introducing Meditation is a beginners' introduction to meditation. With a combination of narrative and discourse, it answers some frequently asked questions which include why meditate, how to meditate, how long, when and where to meditate. The course, explores and briefly explains six of the most common forms of meditation and provides practical application of techniques, allowing students to find which meditation style suits them best.

Estelle's knowledge, insights and understanding of life have been acquired through formal studies in Education/Teaching and Computer Art and Design and further studies in Meditation, Hypnosis, Psychology and Reiki and her experiences as a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a student, a teacher, a meditator, a writer, an artist, a hypnotherapist and a reiki master.

Lesson 1

What's It All About?

Today, we'll explore what it is about meditation that is drawing so many people to it, what it actually is and how do we do it. Anxiety levels are rising and we need positive tools to guide us though life.

Lesson 2

Just Breathe

Today, we'll answer some frequently asked questions and then do our first meditations using our breath. We'll start with just the breath and then add counting and visualisation to increase our focus.

Lesson 3

Focus, Focus, Focus

Today, we'll turn our focus from the breath to mantras, visualisation and things. These will further help those errant thoughts running around our heads to sink into the background. Once we have our thoughts under control we can start to relax.

Lesson 4

Real and Unreal

Today, our last day of this course, we'll focus on Mindfulness and Stories, apposing realities. One keeps you in the present moment, the other takes you into your imagination.

Helpful to know that we can use different focus points to meditate and that there is no specific length of time to meditate for. I have been practicing meditation for sometime and now have some new focus points to practice with.
