In this moment,
On Heal Meditations.
Stretched like dough.
My grandmother made the best cinnamon rolls.
Of all that I remember,
It was the kneading of the dough.
Across the greasy surface.
Stretching it to the edges.
The dough thinning.
And yet hoping that in time,
With some heat,
The dough's presence would morph to give delight to my child cravings.
Right now,
I'm stretched like dough.
Hoping I rise with some heat when it's my time.
Trusting the ingredients and the measurements of the world and my making,
Those spices,
Those condiments,
Those I wanted,
Those I didn't,
Culminate into a decadent life tree.
And if the timing and concoction is not aligned,
I will learn to sit in the stretching,
Greased by disappointment.
Hoping that my sweat,
My tears,
My red lipstick and faith will bring me to rise in time like dough.
Like a young child looking through the glass oven,
I will wait in anticipation for all the ways the universe will use my life,
My experiences,
My tribulations,
My gifts.
The prep time,
Always longer than I want.
Exciting.
And the moment where my lips meet bliss,
Worth all the labor and all the unknown.
So in this phase of being stretched like dough,
When children demand our energies,
Careers expect more than we believe we can give or want to give,
When showers are a luxury,
And exercise is a necessary hassle,
And we wonder if our dreams have left our grasp,
We sit in the stretching.
With the grease and the oil smothering our existence,
We rest assure of this,
That this is a vital,
Necessary process,
An important stop in our journey.
Our capacity is lengthening,
Our patience extending,
Our hope growing,
Our desire for bliss radiating.
Cinnamon and sugar will taste all the sweeter when our lips meet our bliss in due time.
We are not only here for the stretching,
The exploring and evolving are ours too.
But for now,
We sit in our stretching.
Take a deep breath in,
And simply notice your breath.
Just sit with it.
Turn into your breath and your soul.
And when you're ready,
Answer the following questions.
What is making me feel stretched beyond my capacity?
What is my stretching here to teach me is on the other side of this stretching.
Take a deep breath in.
Breathe in all of your feelings,
All of your thoughts,
And know that we are always greater than any momentary earthly experience.
We will not be the same person tomorrow when we're done stretching.
The stretching,
Yes,
Will change us.
We will not stay small.
We will choose to manifest a decadent life.
Our souls are here for the stretching.
So give thanks for being stretched like dough.
