Before you begin.
Have a pen and paper nearby.
Settle into your seat.
Let your shoulders soften.
Take a slow breath in.
And release it gently.
Bring your attention into the present moment.
Bring to mind something you genuinely want to understand.
Question,
A decision,
A relationship.
Or something in yourself that's unclear.
Write that down.
And breathe.
Feel your desire to know.
Let the unknown come in close to you.
So you can sense it right there.
Now imagine that something stands between you and fresh insight.
It may appear as a fog.
A cut.
A smoke screen.
Let this arise in its own way.
Perhaps there's something you're afraid to discover.
Perhaps the truth could be uncomfortable.
Embarrassing or painful.
Perhaps part of you benefits from not knowing.
Perhaps you've quietly decided the answer in advance.
Without judging yourself.
Notice the ways in which you may not want to know.
No need to remove the barrier.
Simply soften your attention.
Feel yourself inviting a fresh insight.
Open your mind's eye.
Your mind's ear,
And the awareness of your whole body.
Allows something to emerge,
A hint or a clue maybe.
Take a breath.
And notice what is here.
It might be a colour,
An image.
A word,
A sound.
Oh,
Wait.
Or a sensation.
You may feel drawn forward,
Held back,
Lifted,
Or grounded.
Whatever appears.
Stay curious.
Where does it lead?
Let one answer open into another.
Now return to your questions.
And right.
Explore whatever has come to you in this meditation.
You may have received a feeling,
An answer,
A direction.
Or simply a new place from which to look.
If that surfaces another question,
Write that down.
Follow where it takes you.
Keep going for at least five minutes.
Put down the pen.
Then breathe in.
The new space you have created.
