Just Thinking: Can You Keep A Secret?

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of mistakes. I Peter 4:8. Some people enjoy knowing secrets. It’s fodder for a gossipy spirit. For some, it makes them feel important to know something another person doesn’t, to be the one with the information, having the power to reveal it at will. This thought isn’t about the content of a secret, but about keeping it.

This was a great introspective!! I regret to admit that I’ve not always been the best keeper of “the secret”! I’ve since realized that the burden of the fear of exposure for not keeping the secret is a much greater price to pay than the honor of the sacred responsibility that you hold from someone trusting you enough to share their secret! Even if they weren’t driven by trusting you, but the burden was to great for them to hold, it is still the responsibility of the person being given the secret to hold it in the highest regard and not share it!! I do hold the caveat that as long as it is not causing physical harm to themselves or others and that there is no criminal activity!
