And God said,
Let there be light.
And there was light.
And God saw the light,
That it was good.
And God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light day,
And the darkness God called night.
And God said,
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven,
To give light upon the earth.
And it was so.
And God made two lights,
The greater light to rule the day,
And the lesser light to rule the night.
And God set them on the firmament of heaven,
To give light upon the earth.
And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud,
To lead them the way.
And by night a pillar of fire,
To give them light to go by day and night.
The people which sat in darkness saw great light,
And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death,
Light is sprung up.
You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel,
But on a candlestick,
And it gives light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before everyone,
That everyone may see your good works and glorify God within you.
To give light to them that sit in darkness,
And in the shadow of death,
To guide our feet into the way of peace.
In him was life,
And the life was the light of everyone.
And the light shines in darkness,
Doesn't understand it,
And cannot overtake it.
The same came for a witness to bear witness of the light,
That everyone through that light might believe.
He was not that light,
But was sent to bear witness of that light.
That was the true light,
Which lights every person that comes into the world.
Then Jesus spoke again saying,
I am the light of the world.
Anyone that follows me shall not walk in darkness,
But shall have the light of life.
As long as I am in the world,
I am the light of the world.
Jesus answered,
Are there not twelve hours in a day?
If anyone walks in the day,
They will not stumble,
Because they see the light of the world.
If a person walks in the night,
That person will stumble,
Because there is no light in them.
For you will light my candle,
The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
Whom shall I follow?
The Lord is the strength of my life,
Of whom shall I be afraid?
Divine Beloved,
I'm Carol and I leave you with this.
However dark it may seem,
However long it has been,
The light that was created in the beginning is still shining.
Maybe it's been a while,
That doesn't feel good.
Maybe a little bit frightening,
Certainly discouraging.
A writer in the scripture said,
Weeping may endure through the night,
But joy comes in the morning.
Even at the darkest moment,
On the darkest night,
There is a light that is still shining.
