Soften Into Your Life

With Candace Temple

This 7-day course is designed to help you meet your everyday life with less resistance, less tension and more ease. If you struggle with overwhelm, you might often feel like there is just too much to hold. Between all of the responsibilities, the unfinished tasks and the constant mental list of what needs to happen next, it's easy to feel like you can never catch up or relax. But this course will help shift your mindset so that you can stop resisting life and start relaxing into it. Over 7 short, accessible practices, you’ll explore how to soften the body, recognize resistance and change the language and mindset that keeps it alive. You’ll learn simple practices that you can carry beyond your meditation cushion and into your mornings, your work, your home, your relationships and all of the ordinary moments that make up your day. You don't need to do less or escape your responsibilities in order to feel ease in your life. You don't need to be tense, rushed or braced in order to get things done. You can relax and soften while doing them. This course will invite you to pause, to breathe, to soften and to discover what becomes possible when you meet your life with a little less resistance and a little more space, taking it one day at a time.

Lesson 1

One Day at a Time

We often struggle with consistency because we overcommit ourselves to too many things at once. In this opening practice, you’ll learn how to simplify your focus and return to just one day. By releasing tomorrow and setting aside what isn’t urgent, you’ll create space to meet today with presence instead of pressure.

Lesson 2

Meeting Resistance

Resistance is often the culprit of our stress and overwhelm; not so much the tasks themselves. In this session, we’ll explore how to notice resistance in the body and soften it instead of pushing through. Through guided awareness, we’ll practice relaxing first, then acting.

Lesson 3

Soften The Body

The body often holds tension long before we consciously realize it. In this practice, we’ll use breath and gentle body awareness to release physical rigidity. When the body softens, the breath moves freely and the mind has the capacity to see things clearly.

Lesson 4

Changing The Language

The phrases we repeat, “I’m so busy,” “I don’t have time,” “There’s too much to do”, shape how we experience our lives. For today, we’ll explore how to recognize overwhelm in our internal language and shift perspective by distinguishing pressure from truth.

Lesson 5

You Are Not Your Emotions

Emotions are movements of energy. We experience them, they do not belong to us. In this practice, we’ll explore the difference between “I am” and “I feel,” creating space between who we are and what we’re experiencing. This subtle shift allows emotions the freedom move through the body. When they have the freedom to move, the body softens.

Lesson 6

Effort Without Force

There is a difference between doing things with effort and doing things with force. With force, everything is tense, the breath is shallow, and the body is bracing. With effort, everything flows, and the breath can move easily. In this practice, we'll explore the difference. We'll feel how just by bringing conscious awareness to the breath, it naturally lengthens, and the body softens. Then, we can act without rushing or bracing.

Lesson 7

Living Softly

This final practice brings everything together. We’ll reconnect with the stillness beneath the noise of daily life, release the energies that keep us braced and guarded, and connect to our true nature. Living softly is not about doing less; it’s about meeting life with less resistance and more presence.
