Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare ॐ It is believed that listening to, repeating, or chanting the "Hare Krishna" mantra elevates the consciousness of the practitioner, shifting the mind from a materialistic platform to a transcendental one and freeing them from the consequences of karma. It is a form of glorifying God. Krishna is the most renowned and revered figure in the Vaishnava tradition. What was the purpose of the incarnation of this great personality? Let us turn to the scriptures that have come down to us, specifically the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata, and in particular, its most well-known section, the Bhagavad Gita. In it, Krishna appears before us as an incarnation ("avatar") of the god Vishnu, who is part of the Trimurti alongside Brahma and Shiva. Brahma is considered responsible for the creation of life, Vishnu for its preservation, and Shiva for the destructive aspect of the Triad.
