Hello.
And thank you for being here today.
My name is Miko and I am a Shingon Buddhist nun from Japan.
Today I would like to share a little about Shingon meditation and how it differs from many other methods.
Forms of meditation.
Many people are familiar with.
Meditation is a way to relax.
Reduce stress or become more mindful.
These are all wonderful benefits of meditation.
However,
In the Shingon tradition,
Meditation has a deeper purpose.
It is not only about to do.
Calming the mind.
It is a way of awakening to the wisdom.
And compassion that already exists within us.
Many people believe that wisdom comes from outside ourselves.
From books.
Teachers or life experience.
While these things are variable.
Shingon Buddhism teaches that our deepest wisdom is already present within us.
Meditation is a way of discovering that wisdom for ourselves.
This is one of the unique aspects of Shingon Meditation.
We do not meditate simply to feel peaceful for a few moments.
We meditate to deepen our understanding of ourselves and to awaken to our true nature.
Of course,
Meditation can bring calmness.
Equality,
And balance to our daily lives.
From the Shingon perspective,
These are not the final goal.
They are part of our deeper spiritual journey.
In other words,
Shingon meditation is not only about changing how we feel.
It is about awakening to who we truly are.
Thank you for listening and I wish you a peaceful day.
