COURSE
With AL Kaibzhanov
Many people try to manage anxiety by forcing themselves to calm down — only to feel more overwhelmed, frustrated, or disconnected afterward. This mini course explores why that happens through a gentle nervous-system perspective. Instead of treating anxiety as something “wrong,” this course introduces a different understanding: anxiety is often a protective response from the body and nervous system. Inside this course, students will explore: • Why “calm down” strategies sometimes backfire • How anxiety can function as protection rather than failure • The difference between forcing calm and noticing safety • How to build awareness without pressure or self-judgment • Gentle nervous-system–informed approaches to emotional regulation This course includes 2 short teaching lessons The material is calm, grounded, and beginner-friendly, designed for people who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, tension, emotional overwhelm, or constant self-monitoring. No prior experience with mindfulness or somatic work is needed.
