Hello there,
Kind soul.
Welcome to Somatic Muse.
I am Cat,
And I'm here to help guide you back to your own muse,
To what drives and excites you,
To your truest,
Highest self.
So often we get caught up in a long list of musts,
Of needs,
Tasks to be ticked off,
And worries But what if today,
Instead of getting lost on all the things we have yet to do,
All the fears and worries that haunt us still,
What if today,
Of all days,
We took a few short minutes to land back into the body.
Our body.
I invite you to find the comfortable position of your choice it can be sitting or lying down and if it feels good to do so,
I would invite you to close your eyes for the next few minutes remember you can open them again at any point but just for a little while.
What if we turned our focus fully inward?
Very calmly,
Bring your attention to the tips of your toes.
Stay here a second Try to really notice and channel all of your attention into the tips of your toes perhaps you notice a tingling perhaps an ache you've been ignoring for too long Try as you go to remain impartial.
Me your observer.
Try not to judge your name and slowly begin to move from the tips of your toes through the rest of the foot perhaps you flex the toes and point.
Do this a few times waking up the soles of the foot really being here.
Now move along the arches As we move through this body scan,
I invite you to touch with your hands the place in the body we are focusing on,
If it feels comfortable the ankles Maybe we roll the angle gently one way.
And then the other.
Bring your attention to the calves Do they feel tight?
Tired?
Relaxed?
Travel upward to the knee joints Maybe use your fingers to gently massage the knees and perhaps take a moment of gratitude for all the ways they've kept us up.
All the strength and flexibility involved in taking a single step that our knees demonstrate on a daily basis.
Knowing when to bend and when to stand strong Let your attention glide through the thighs.
Try not to anticipate or to hurry along.
But rather take time to be here.
Focus your attention into your thigh muscle into the very middle of your thigh.
It's alright if you feel nothing,
If you can't notice anything,
That isn't failure on your part.
Because you are still being present and thus winning tremendously.
Whenever you're ready,
I invite you to travel onto the hips.
And let us linger here a moment.
If you are seated,
Perhaps it's pleasurable to trace some gentle,
Slow circles with your torso,
One way.
And then the other.
Thus activating lightly the hip joints if you are lying down.
I invite you to bend your knees,
Place the soles of your feet on the ground.
And begin lowering your knees one way.
And then the other.
In a gentle windshield wiper motion.
Think of this as a short break along our path.
So often we are told to bring great bombastic movements into the body,
Intense workouts,
Building muscles,
Today I invite you to venture into the opposite direction.
Today we are grounding into the body through the smallest,
Lightest movements that we are capable of.
Think of this as your own gentle awakening or if it is late and you are preparing for sleep,
Think of this as saying a small thank you to your body for carrying you through another precious day.
Whenever you are ready,
I invite you to travel upward through the belly,
Letting your attention linger on the loin area.
This powerhouse the center of creativity,
Of invention,
Of renewal.
Move up through the belly acknowledging the digestive tract that precious gift of being kept alive.
Our body knows automatically what is and isn't good for us and we trust it since always to make that distinction when it comes to food,
To nourishment perhaps after today we can try and see where else in life we can rely on that body wisdom Telling what is right for us from what is wrong While we're here,
Let us take 3 deep belly breaths.
Inhale… Fill your lungs and your belly with oxygen and new life.
Hold here.
And slowly exhale.
Again.
Feel your body expand gradually,
Throat,
Lungs,
Belly,
Hold this new possibility and slowly let it out,
Out One last breath in your own rhythm.
Then lengthen out the exhale,
Avoid the tendency to rush,
Know you have an abundance of time and that you are held and supported in each breath.
We continue our journey through the body,
Acknowledging as we go the low back.
And moving into the lungs that have helped fill us,
That have helped bring new oxygen,
A new beginning.
We pour our attention to our chest,
Collarbone and shoulder blades Roll the shoulders gently a few times.
See how that feels for you.
Perhaps lift and drop them a couple times just to make sure you're not holding on to any lingering tension here.
Just bringing the shoulders up and down a few times just like that can make an enormous difference during a stressful day So keep this little trick with you,
A gift from me to you,
For whenever life gets to be too much,
To shrug it off.
Carefully we arrive with our focus to the throat Perhaps we bring our hands up to the throat and let us stay here for 10 uninterrupted seconds.
What do you perceive?
What in your life is going unsaid?
And where is your voice,
Your beautiful,
Precious voice,
Most needed right now?
Where is your voice?
Travel gently through the throat and into the jaw.
Made me move very gently the jawbone.
The tongue in your mouth.
Very lightly releasing any lingering tensions,
Let your lips part slightly and if you are in a place where you feel safe and comfortable What is one truth that you've been needing to say out loud?
What is one truth that your life could benefit from right now?
There is no greater gift that you can give to the world than speaking your own sacred truth.
The world needs your truth.
Thank you.
We move,
Lastly,
Our focus through the nose.
Perhaps take another long inhale here.
Maybe we thank our body for the breath,
For keeping us alive each day.
Lastly,
We arrive at the eyes and the forehead.
This place that causes many of us so much grief.
We try as we arrive here to notice it anew to keep our focus soft,
Malleable,
Like we're meeting ourselves,
Our thoughts,
Our worries for the very first time.
We reach out a hand.
We let the thoughts slip through our fingers.
Maybe we allow ourselves a small smile.
Hello there.
It gets.
Awfully quiet Maybe our brains feel a little put on the spot.
So we won't linger here long.
Instead,
We let our energy and our focus radiate outward through the top of our head Let your light radiate out into the world,
Your focus,
Your energy,
Your beautiful soul.
Let it wash out through you and into the space,
The room,
This life.
The world needs your beautiful light.
Your focus and your energy.
You can only give that once you replenish your own will.
Once you travel first through your own body.
Let us breathe here.
Thank you for going on this beautiful journey with me.
And may you come back to this meditation as often as you need I will leave you here,
But you can stay as long as you like.
