The Storm

Rain pounds the windows
With hammering wet fists,
Throws handfuls of gravel,
Though ignored, it persists.
Those few souls inside
Huddle even more tightly,
This wintery wind's
Deluge comes nightly.
Nail closed the shutters!
Bar up the door!
Towels and rags ready
To mop up the floor!
When this storm is enraged,
Or out to have fun,
Your one only option's
To hide 'til it's done.
