Welcome to the First Energy Center.
The first chakra,
The root chakra.
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine at the level of the tailbone.
The color associated with this chakra is red,
The color of strength and vitality.
The element of this chakra is earth.
The chakra is all about grounding to the energy of the earth.
The root chakra is the energetic foundation for the body and the mind.
It is probably the most important chakra because it is the foundation and supplies you with crucial energy for survival.
When the base or foundation is strong,
Only then can we build up from it securely.
It is all about anchoring ourselves in our bodies and grounding ourselves in our own world and the world around us.
It gives us the energy to endure life's trials and tribulations.
This chakra helps you to connect with the earth and feel comfortable in your own body.
It helps us to plant firm roots.
Imagine a large oak tree in front of you.
You see the tree standing tall,
Firm,
Powerful and strong.
However,
What you don't see is that the tree has roots that are anchoring it deep into the ground.
These roots are where the tree gets its stability and strength to endure the elements around it.
This is how the root chakra works for us as well.
A strong and balanced root chakra provides us safety and stability and allows us to give supportive love to the ones we care about in our lives.
Having a solid foundation helps us to feel peace and security.
In general,
Chakras can be balanced,
Overbalanced or underbalanced.
There can be degrees of imbalance within a chakra.
Our aim is to bring balance to each chakra by utilizing certain tools and exercises.
Working with these tools helps us with our ability to overcome feelings of insecurity and to release our fears.
When we are balanced in our chakras,
We feel confident and secure,
Strong,
Abundant,
Energized with a good sense of belonging.
The root chakra enhances our ability to eliminate what we no longer need or want in our lives,
Including negative thoughts and emotions.
It can help us to free ourselves from long-standing negative ways of looking at the world that we may have inherited.
This chakra keeps us rooted to the present moment.
When the energy of this chakra is balanced and freely flowing,
We feel safe and secure.
We feel fully present in the moment and connected to what is going on around us.
We relate in healthy ways to the people who share our lives.
When the root is out of balance,
We may have a feeling of being stuck,
Feelings of fear and anxiety.
We may experience emotions of sadness and instability.
Physical symptoms of a root imbalance can manifest as many diseases and ailments.
You might have pain and stiffness in your feet or legs.
You might have skeletal issues due to a lack of feeling supported and ungrounded.
You might have intestinal issues.
Because of an inability to properly eliminate,
This is the elimination chakra,
Eliminating things we no longer need.
And at an emotional level,
We may be unable to recycle our emotions,
Thereby causing intestinal issues.
They may present as reproductive issues from feeling unloved or undeserving.
It may present as insecurity and fear,
Leading to feelings of anxiety.
So how do we heal the root chakra?
One very effective way is called earthing,
Which is simply walking barefoot on the earth and feeling the soil or the sand between our toes.
Think of how you feel when you're walking along the beach next to the water with your feet firmly in the sand.
How good it feels,
How regenerating it feels.
That is earthing.
Mother Earth can absorb our energy and recycle that energy into something more positive.
We connect to the energy of the earth and allow it to wash away certain attitudes and energies that are harmful to us in order to help us clear and heal the root chakra.
We can also do walking meditation.
Getting out into nature and being aware and mindful of our surroundings in nature has a very positive impact on our healing.
It energizes us.
Another way is dancing.
Listening to music and dancing gets the energy flowing and moving through our bodies,
Helping us to connect to the ground,
Our core,
And within our own body.
Gardening and nurturing plants and planting seeds connects us to the earth.
Another important element of healing the root chakra is to find forgiveness for things that occurred with people or experiences in the past.
This is done through affirmations,
Which I will be providing to you this week,
And different exercises that will be included as part of this healing,
Like journaling and letter writing.
Holding on to things from the past,
Experiences,
And people keeps us in a state of unforgiveness.
And when we can't let go,
It burdens us and affects us at an emotional level.
We forget to forgive ourselves and others,
And doing so makes peace with the past.
You can also connect with your first chakra through certain yoga poses.
I will include images so that you can practice if you so choose.
The warrior one pose,
The triangle pose,
And the eagle pose all help us to connect to the root chakra.
Sitting cross-legged,
An easy pose,
And feeling our tailbone connecting to the ground.
Squeezing that area in and out and allowing our sits bones to connect to Mother Earth.
Really being present and feeling that connection of our sits bones connecting to the ground.
And just remaining aware of that connection.
Crystals and aromatherapy can also help with all of the chakras.
To balance the root,
We can wear jewelry or keep in our meditation area stones that are red in color,
Such as carnelian or bloodstone.
And we can use oils and diffusers around the house or in our room or by our meditation station.
Or even putting oils on different areas of your body like your feet,
Your pulse points,
Your wrists,
Your temples,
Such as patchouli,
Myrrh,
Or cedarwood,
Which help again to connect to the root chakra.
So in conclusion,
The root chakra symbolizes our potential to grow.
When we can connect our root to ourselves and with our root,
We can ground ourselves and master our emotions.
Emerging from mud and growing to our full potential.
Unsticking ourselves and reaching from the earth to the sky.
The root chakra teaches us to stand up for ourselves and be present in our own lives.
I hope you enjoy the experience of reconnecting and balancing with the chakra this week.
Namaste.
