The Second Voice Within

With Elmar van Dijk

There is a voice in your head that talks almost all day. It plans, worries, reminds, and rehearses. Most of us think that voice is who we are. But there is another one. It is quieter. It doesn't build its thoughts step by step; it arrives. A single word out of nowhere. A sentence you didn't expect. A song that keeps playing, again and again. And almost every time, the busy voice brushes it aside: "that means nothing." In this six-day course, you'll learn to recognise both voices, to help the loud one feel safe enough to soften, and to give the quiet one more room. Each lesson is about eight minutes: a short teaching, a guided practice, and a reflection question at the end. None of the reflection questions has a right or wrong answer; they show you where you are.

Meet your Teacher

Elmar is a pianist, Reiki practitioner, high performance coach and the founder of an organisation devoted to wellbeing and harmony in the workplace. One thread runs through all of Elmar's work: we often recognise something long before we can explain it. The music carries that thread in its titles. Sight Unseen is about knowing without understanding. Gifted Chaos is about the gift inside a restless mind. Chiaroscuro is about holding light and dark at the same time. As a Reiki practitioner, Elmar works with what is felt before it has words. As a coach and in work with organisations, Elmar sees every day how much wisdom gets lost when the loudest voice wins, in teams and inside ourselves. Elmar's courses bring those worlds together: what research tells us, honesty about where it stops, and an open invitation to try the rest for yourself.
