Hey there,
I'm Nikki.
Let me ask ya.
When is the last time that you remember playing?
And acting like a little kid.
That's what I'm going to talk about today.
Claiming your joy.
Through inner child playtime.
And I've set up my surroundings as you can see with a lot of things that I enjoy.
I'm going to talk about today.
I'm going to take you through.
So just like anything,
I'm coming to learn that in life,
So much things are a practice and take practice.
Like,
I can list off a lot.
And it's self-compassion,
Meditation are just a few that come to mind.
And today.
Inner child playtime.
And sparking that joy.
Looking for glimmers.
And for me,
It's something that's been important in my healing journey and recovery.
As far as reclaiming them.
Because it's helping me come back to myself.
And so I'm going to start out with.
.
.
A suggestion.
So what I did a while ago was I said,
You know,
I've lost that part of me.
I don't see it as often.
You know,
That little playful kid,
That little Nicky.
Where'd she go?
And what helped me was just making a list of the things that I enjoyed doing or that reminded me of.
Of my childhood.
And so this is something that you can do also.
And it's something that will give you ideas as far as.
.
.
The things that you may want to practice and incorporate into your daily routine.
As an example.
In my daily routine,
I put.
.
.
And another thing that's important to me is to laugh at least one time.
A crazy,
Silly,
Stupid laugh.
A dick.
And these all you lead me to.
.
.
Enjoyments.
Something that grows and becomes easier also.
And so.
I wanted to offer a quick little practice.
Let's go ahead and check in.
Wherever you're sitting.
I'd like for you to just think about.
Something that you can do after you're done watching this video.
That will bring you a little bit of joy.
That will light you up a little bit.
It's something that.
.
.
Makes you feel a little bit more alive.
And that can be something really simple.
A good place to start is a coloring book with pens,
Markers,
Paint.
Piece of paper,
A pen,
Just scribbling,
Doing messy art,
And see how that feels.
You can also play music in the background,
Even songs from when you were a kid.
One thing that I've liked to reclaim is watching shows from when I was a kid like the Smurfs and movies that I used to enjoy.
And it's wonderful to see things with a new pair of eyes.
So those are just examples.
And so I would love to offer a challenge.
And would like to.
.
.
Ask you.
What can you do right after watching this video or later today?
That helps you practice reclaiming.
Yourself through inner child playtime.
And then.
.
.
Once you've figured it out.
If you need to rise it down.
As a reminder,
So that you can put it someplace that you can see.
And put last.
Um.
.
.
Then take that next step.
And stay safe.
I would love to hear how you're incorporating this.
Into your daily.
And also,
I want to honor something before we wrap up.
That.
For people in recovery especially,
It might be difficult allowing ourselves or giving ourselves permission.
To play,
To feel good,
To look for joy,
And to chase that joy.
And it's one of our birthrights just for existing as you are.
However that looks.
So just know that and please take that with you.
Alright you guys,
That's it.
Thanks so much for watching.
Please let me know how this goes for you,
And I would love to hear something that you've done recently.
That has brought you a lot of joy.
For me.
Super Mario Brothers.
I played every couple of days.
I loved it as a kid.
In.
.
.
I wish you lots of moments of glimmers and joy that just grows and grows.
Alright,
That's it for now.
Thanks so much for watching.
Take good care.
Until next time.
