Welcome,
Thanks for joining me today.
I'm Diana Guerrero,
Also known as the Ark Lady,
And I'll be reading from my book,
Blessing of the Animals,
A guide to prayers and ceremonies celebrating pets and other creatures.
The particular prayer I want to share with you is,
Bless the Beast.
We send thanks to our companion animals,
Domestic livestock,
And pets.
Spirit,
Teach us to have compassion,
Give us kind words,
Enable us to gently handle these beloved beasts.
We give thanks for the insects that ride on the currents of the air,
Creep and crawl above and below the soil,
And that buzz in the shadows of the majestic trees and provide so many services to all.
Grand are the insect and arachnid cleanup crews who remove the lifeless debris and assist in the recycling process.
We appreciate the beauty of the butterfly and the song of the crickets and ask for blessings for all the bugs and worms for their vital roles in this web of life.
Help all to see their uniqueness and escalate human appreciation for them.
We give thanks for the winged wonders of the sky,
Avian clans of the water,
And the fowl of the earth.
Their beauty,
Songs,
And grace fill our lives and help our spirits soar.
May our hearts flutter with joy with the beat of their wings.
Keep our birdie brethren in insects and seeds.
May their nestlings be healthy and fit,
And may they all enjoy full lives.
We send blessings to our reptilian relatives and ask that understanding and appreciation replace fear and mistrust.
May we recognize and be grateful for the diverse roles that these scaled associates play.
May we see the unique splendor of those who crawl,
Slither,
And scamper.
We thank those of the forest,
Field,
Meadows,
And desert for gracing our lives.
Their wildness calls out to us and lures us to venture into new terrain.
We send thanks also to the creatures of the sea and the water.
They inspire us to embark deep into uncharted territory and challenge us to expand our senses.
May we continue to cherish the large and the small,
The predator and prey,
And may blessings fill the lives of all beasts.
I hope you enjoyed this reading.
Thanks for listening and I look forward to having you join me again.
