Welcome to a guided meditation for opening and healing the Heart Chakra.
The Heart Chakra is known as the Anahat Chakra in Sanskrit,
Which means unstuck,
Infinite and continuous.
This chakra is the center for self-love and love for others.
The element associated with this chakra is air.
Air circulates within us and around us just like love.
The color of the chakra is green and it can be found abundantly and widely in Mother Nature.
The beej or the seed mantra is a sound vibration to create transformation.
For the Heart Chakra,
The seed mantra is Yam.
The Heart Chakra symbol has 12 petals associated with virtues of a pure heart.
Love,
Harmony,
Empathy,
Understanding,
Purity,
Clarity,
Compassion,
Unity,
Forgiveness,
Kindness,
Peace and Bliss.
In the symbol,
The upper triangle signifies the divine energies of Lord Shiva,
Purusha and the other is the Goddess Shakti,
Prakriti.
According to ancient texts,
The union of these divine energies is the source of all creation.
So with this knowledge,
Let's begin with the meditation.
Start by sitting down in a comfortable posture with your spine straight.
Observe your breath,
Inhale and exhale.
You may set the intention for acceptance,
Compassion,
Joy,
Forgiveness or love for both self and others or perhaps you may say some affirmations that can help with the intention for this practice today such as I am worthy of unconditional love,
Acceptance and belonging.
I have the courage to follow my heart and fulfill my desires.
I am open to giving and receiving love.
I can let go of the past to forgive myself and others.
I am open and vulnerable with my feelings in all my friendships and relationships.
I am truly grateful for all my blessings.
With these words of love,
Continue to breathe,
Breathe in and out.
Your prana or life force flows through the nadis or channels through which the energy flows.
Notice the breath flowing in and out through your nose and then start breathing more deeply from your nostrils through the lungs to the belly and then exhale by releasing the breath from the belly through the lungs through your nose.
Breathe in and out.
Continue to inhale and exhale.
Notice the contraction and expansion of the belly with each inhale and exhale.
Some deep breaths to relax your body.
Begin visualizing yourself surrounded by nature.
Imagine yourself in a forest.
The trees are ancient,
Timeless as they disappear into the sky.
The soft greenness of the moss that has made them home and that they continue to give their love and compassion to those all around.
The raw earthy scent of wet mud,
The crisp smell of dewy plants,
The sweet scent of forest flowers,
The ground covered with white lilies and stems of lavender.
Embrace these soothing colors from mother nature and gently shift your attention to your heart chakra and now imagine a green circle of energy right in the middle of your chest in your heart space.
Bring your hands together to your heart center to your heart space.
In Anjali Mudra,
The fingers point upward,
Press the palm of the hands together and press just the tips of the fingers and thumbs of both hands with each other while keeping the fingers slightly apart.
This hand gesture or prayer mudra opens our hearts and ushers in a deep sense of gratitude.
Or you may just keep your hands on your knees with palms facing upwards towards sky.
Whichever feels comfortable to you.
Breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your nose.
Connecting with this green circle of energy right in the middle of your chest in your heart space.
With the next breath,
You begin chanting the seed mantra for the Anahata Chakra.
YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM Stay here in this state for at least a few minutes to embrace and integrate this transformative energy.
Breathe deeply,
Inhale and exhale.
Stay with the sensation in your body from the vibration of the mantra.
Notice all the sensations within you,
In your heart space,
In your body.
If your hands are still in Anjali Mudra,
In prayer pose in your heart space,
Then bring your hands from your heart space to rest on your knees.
Focus on your breath.
And towards the end of this practice today,
Perhaps you may remind yourself that your state of being is love.
And so you say,
I am love.
Start becoming aware of your presence in this space.
Engaging your five senses to connect with your presence in this moment.
Gently,
When you are ready,
You can open your eyes.
