Broken Heart Recovery Meditation And as you continue to relax and gently sit on your meditation cushion or in a sturdy straight back chair,

If you have any back pain,

Lay down on a solid floor and begin to notice your inhalation and your exhalation.

As you breathe in more and more comfort,

You can notice that your lungs are supporting your brain with more and more oxygen.

Receiving comfort while you increase oxygenation to your brain as you settle ever so deeply into that space of mindful relaxation and inner exploration.

Go now to your heart and feel the pain,

Emptiness or sadness.

Breathe deeply and bring mindful awareness to the suffering within your heart.

You may be surprised and delighted to discover that while you're simply noticing your grief or sorrow and experiencing a vast sense of compassion for yourself,

You can feel a wondrous mind flow that has already begun to open.

Like ice melting in the mountains,

Pain and sorrow ebb away,

Flowing out of your heart and your body,

Out from your hands and your feet.

That's right,

Each and every breath of comfort taking you deeper and deeper and continue to breathe and allow these powerful and painful sensations and thoughts to move through you and out of you and away from you.

If you experience suffering isn't completely alleviated,

Allow yourself to become curious and imagine someone who suffered terribly and learned to overcome her loss,

Someone whose story you know very well.

Picture this person in your mind's eye and take yourself through her story of loss and pain from its very inception,

In all its intensity and agony.

Place yourself inside of her heart,

Her mind,

Inside of her body.

Allow yourself to feel every feeling and experience each and every dark moment in mood you imagined she suffered.

Experience yourself drawing strength from her tragedy and triumph.

Visualize and bring mindful awareness to the exact moment in her mind when she made the decision to heal,

To transform the direction of the pain and sorrow in order to move from the internalization of the experience to expressive releasing flow.

See and feel and experience yourself as this person as she drew strength,

Wisdom and compassion from this heartache.

Envision your heart and imagine the tissue within its wounds begin to repair itself.

Visualize the bright vibrancy and redness of the heart in the heart space.

Feel a stirring of vitality as your heart beats and you imagine seedlings in the earth beginning to awaken from tormenty and buds on the branches of trees beginning to open,

To open into the sunlight as flowers burst forth with an ever new aliveness and energy.

Notice that your heart and mind are beginning to connect,

To transform,

To come into a place of oneness and union.

Gently be mindful of the feelings in your heart as you draw from your inner resources of compassionate awareness.

Notice the experience of loss,

Sorrow and sadness beginning to shift towards feelings and sensations of vitality,

Passion and well-being.

By recreating in your own mind someone else's pain and subsequent recovery,

You may find yourself feeling less overwhelmed and better able to avoid getting caught up in an unwholesome series of thoughts,

Feelings and unwholesome sensations.

You may also try envisioning yourself going through a series of steps to move from emotional depletion to recovery,

A process of combining mindful awareness with core creative resources available to you from deep within side of your core unconscious mind,

The core of your being,

Being in the core.

However sometimes that can be more difficult to do because the mind has to access creativity to give you some idea of how your life might unfold in the days to come.

Your grief or your anger may be too powerful just now for you to enter into this creative state.

So take your time gently and compassionately as another time may be easier for you to pretend and to imagine this person who has successfully navigated through all of her transformations,

To see and to feel and to hear this person moving through the churning waters of the stormy hot,

Quieting the painful waves and thoughts of sorrow,

Sadness and grief,

Bringing a wonderful sense of stillness to the waters in the lake of the inner hot,

Deepening quiet feeling stillness and relief and healing.
