This gentle guided practice invites children to visualize blowing on a birthday cake candle. It's a fun way for them to connect with their breath, relax their body and calm their minds. This is created for children but can be enjoyed by everyone.

Let's go on an imaginary journey together.

Find yourself a comfortable spot on a chair or on a cushion.

Sit up nice and tall.

Lift your chest and gently lift your head.

Let's wriggle our fingers and wriggle our toes.

Good job!

Now gently sway your body from side to side and side to side.

And stop in the centre.

Are you comfortable?

Now rest your hands on your legs.

Be as still as you can.

Let's connect with our breath.

When you breathe in,

Think of the word in.

And when you breathe out,

Think of the word out.

Let's try.

Breathing in,

Think in.

Breathing out,

Think out.

Breathing in,

Think in.

Breathing out,

Think out.

That's it!

We are going on an imaginary journey together.

Did you know you are so amazing you can go anywhere you want?

Simply by using your imagination.

That's how extraordinarily talented you are.

Let's imagine we're at your birthday party.

Imagine a birthday cake in front of you.

You can see the colourful frosting.

You can smell the sweet sponge.

You can hear the party sounds around you.

You can taste the delicious cake.

Can you see the yellow flickering flames of the birthday candles?

Let's take one candle from the cake.

You can hold a finger up in front of you and pretend it's a candle if that helps.

On your out breath,

Can you make the candle flame flicker but not go out?

Let's try.

Breathing in slowly and out.

Breathe in,

Blow very softly and feel the air on your finger.

Breathe in and blow softly.

Breathe in.

Is it warm or cold?

Breathing in and blow the flickering flame.

Well done.

Now lower your finger and when you are ready,

Return to your natural breathing.

Let's tune into our bodies.

How do you feel now?

Maybe you feel calm or peaceful.

Let's finish by breathing in some calm.

Breathing in,

I am calm.

Breathing out and in,

I am calm.

And out and in,

I am peaceful.

And out and in,

I am peaceful.

And out.

Feeling calm and peaceful,

Turn your attention back to the space you are in.

Let's sway from side to side.

Sway from side to side.

Now wriggle your fingers and wriggle your toes.

Have a great big stretch and smile.

Well done on taking time out of your day to care for your precious self.
