You close your eyes,
You start to observe the breath.
You feel the sensations as the breath enters in at the nostrils.
It falls all the way down towards the lungs.
And then as you breathe out you feel the sensations as the breath reaches through the lungs and leaves via the tip of the nose.
Keep taking your awareness to the breathing.
You feel the ribcage expand,
Contract.
Continue observing each in-breath.
Continue observing each out-breath.
Continue taking the awareness of the mind towards the breathing.
Breath enters,
Breath leaves.
Silence grows in the mind.
You feel the ribcage expand,
Contract.
You observe a white smoke entering as you breathe in,
The body filling with light.
And as you breathe out you feel a dark smoke leaving,
You feel tiredness,
Negativity leaving the body.
As you breathe in the white smoke enters,
As you breathe out the dark smoke leaves.
The mind becomes stiller and stiller as you observe the breath.
You realise more and more the insignificance of thoughts as the breath guides you towards the deepest point of stillness,
Of silence within your mind.
You feel nothing but stillness,
Nothing but silence deep within.
Continue observing the breathing.
Continue feeling your awareness.
Moving closer and closer towards a stillness deep within yourself.
And each in-breath brings with it a white light that enters via the nostrils,
Fills you with peace.
Each out-breath allows for darkness,
Tiredness to leave.
The breath brings you closer and closer towards stillness.
And as you connect to this stillness,
Just in your mind's eye,
You see yourself in a beautiful valley.
You see a lake,
You hear the sounds of the lake,
The rippling of the water.
You see a beautiful tree just in front of the lake in the centre of the valley.
A bunion tree,
Sat just below the tree.
You see an ancient yogi full of wisdom.
You see in his face that he has complete stillness.
He's completely at one with the universe.
You sense no sense of competition in his face,
Just a sense of harmony with everything that goes on around.
And you observe how the yogi is observing his breath.
And this inspires you to do the same.
You see him coming towards stillness in his mind.
This encourages you to come towards stillness in your own mind.
To continue observing the breath.
And as you look around at the valley,
At nature,
At the trees,
As you listen to the sounds of the water in the lake,
You feel yourself coming closer and closer to stillness.
Becoming more and more aware of just being in the present moment.
And as you do,
The yogi opens his eyes,
Looks at you.
He tells you that the present moment is all that exists.
He tells you there is no past,
There is no future.
Just this moment in time.
What you think is the past,
He tells you.
Just your memories which change according to what you like and dislike at this moment in time.
The way you remember things is not how they actually even happened.
The past is gone.
Let it go,
He tells you.
You can remember lessons from the past to help you move forward.
But by dwelling on the past,
You can allow for sadness to creep in.
And true enjoyment in life comes from always enjoying the present moment.
From always being present in the here and in the now.
He then looks at you again and he tells you,
If you dwell too much on the future,
You allow for anxiety to creep in.
Thoughts of what if this happens,
What if that happens cloud the mind.
Anxiety starts to grow.
Let go of your thoughts,
Your worries of the future,
He tells you.
And enjoy the present moment.
No one knows what will happen in the future,
What will happen tomorrow.
You can make plans if you want to go from A to B.
You can make plans for the future,
But don't keep them concrete because things can always happen.
Things can always change.
You can keep plans,
But don't dwell on the future,
He tells you.
Dwelling too much on the future creates all of these anxieties of what if.
And most of these what ifs don't even happen.
True peace,
True bliss,
True serenity can only come from the present moment in time.
He looks at you with his eyes full of bliss and he tells you,
You can only ever enjoy life in the present moment.
Because this is where life happens.
If you can let go of thoughts of the past and the future,
Sadness from the past,
Worries of the future,
You can turn your life into one with many moments lived and enjoyed in the present.
There is no past,
He reminds you.
It's already gone.
There is no future.
It hasn't yet happened.
No one knows what will happen.
The only thing we can do is enjoy the present moment and train the mind to constantly be focused on the present moment.
You let go of your thoughts of the past and the sadness it can bring.
You let go of the future and the anxiety that it can bring.
And you just bring the mind into the present moment in time.
There is no past.
There is no future.
You focus once more on the breathing.
You thank the yogi for his wisdom.
And as you focus on the breath,
You realise and feel the stillness that comes to the mind.
The past drifts away.
Thoughts of the future melt away.
And the only thing that remains is the present moment in time.
There is no past.
There is no future.
Anchoring,
Using the breath as your anchor,
Will always bring you into the present.
You take your hands in Namaste to thank the yogi for his ancient wisdom,
For helping you to become present.
You rub both palms together.
You take them over your eyes.
You bring warmth into your eyes.
Keeping the feeling of the present moment alive.
Letting go of the past,
Future.
Making a promise to yourself to always be present.
You slowly open your eyes.
Slowly move your hands away.
Focusing on the present moment in time.
