An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.
Gandhi We don't always have to like what we're thankful for,
And that's not to justify what has happened to you or to diminish your experience,
But rather to empower you,
To divert the power we give to those experiences and instead give it back to ourselves.
The practice of forgiveness is not always an easy one.
Forgiveness of others and how they may have harmed you,
Crossed a boundary,
Or even in forgiving yourself.
When you let go of what's no longer serving you,
You make space to receive,
To welcome something new.
Your invitation today is to breathe into the parts of your life that feel closed off.
Find a comfortable seat or lying down on your back,
Gently bring your eyes to close.
Let's arrive in our space.
Deep inhale through the nose,
Fill up your lungs.
And exhale,
Sigh it out.
Really land in your body.
Feel the parts of you in contact with the ground or the surface beneath you.
Feel that sense of grounding.
While feeling the opposing lengthening and that sense of rooted expansion.
Let's begin.
Inhale through your mouth.
Exhale out the mouth.
That's it.
Find your own rhythm.
Filling up fully,
Sending the breath all the way down into the belly.
What are you still holding on to?
Notice where you feel tight.
Notice where you feel constricted.
Feel the anger,
The disappointment.
Allow it to move through you.
Let it in to let it through.
Release the guilt,
The shame.
Put down what's no longer serving you.
A couple more breaths,
Just like this.
In 10 seconds,
We'll take our breath hold.
Deep inhale,
Fill up the lungs.
Exhale all this stagnant air.
Last time,
Deep breath in.
Hold the breath at the top.
What's the discomfort trying to tell you?
When you're ready,
Release the breath.
Switching to nasal breathing.
Breathing in through your nose.
Exhale,
Let it go.
Where can you soften?
Breathe in a feeling of tenderness.
What messages does your heart have for you?
Tap into your heart space.
Let love in.
Coming up to our final breath hold.
Deep inhale,
Fill up fully.
Exhale all the air out.
Last time,
Deep inhale,
Fill up.
Exhale,
Empty all the air.
Hold at the bottom.
Honor what's coming up for you.
When you're ready,
Slowly coming back to your breath.
Continuing to inhale through your nose.
Exhaling slowly.
Lengthening your breaths.
Making your exhales longer than your inhales.
As humans,
It's inevitable that we make mistakes along the way.
When we embrace how perfectly imperfect we are,
We can develop greater understanding for this human experience.
Where can you practice compassion today?
Thanks for taking the time for you.
See you again tomorrow.
