The ups and downs of life will come, they are inevitable. Instead of desiring the waves of life to stop, or be perfect all the time, we welcome the unexpected. Because beyond up and down, right and wrong, joy and sadness, is a sacred silence. We can tap into that sacred silence at any time in any place.

Become aware of the pattern of your breath.

Become aware of your whole body.

Let your body be comfortable and still.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Settle into the space in between your thoughts.

Settle into the space in between each breath.

This is the sacred pause that is the undercurrent of all that is.

Just like waves of the ocean or peaks of mountains,

We are present to the ups and downs of life.

We feel joy and sadness,

Pain and pleasure,

Sickness and health.

Meanwhile,

The undercurrent of our experience stays the same.

Peaceful awareness.

Experience this peaceful awareness for yourself,

Even if just for a second,

In between your thoughts and in between each breath.

Right now,

We are taking the time to nourish our body,

Mind and spirit.

We know that the practice of meditation offers us the opportunity to experience the sacred silence of who we are.

This practice strengthens us to go through the inevitable challenges and pain and grief of human life.

We don't strive for perfection.

Because without sadness,

We wouldn't know joy.

Without pain,

We wouldn't value pleasure.

Without sickness,

We wouldn't be grateful for our health.

Breathing in to what is here in this moment.

No judgment,

No conditions.

Just awareness of what you're feeling.

Considering that this feeling will change,

Because emotions are energy in motion.

Just as our thoughts move,

Our breath moves,

Always changing,

Always evolving.

As you breathe deep into this moment,

Remembering that the undercurrent of sacred silence is always available to you in any and every moment.

This is the gift of sacred silence.

Take a few moments to enjoy this experience in silence.

Stay here for as long as you'd like.

If you're ready to come back,

Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.

Take some slow,

Deep stretches.

Raise your arms above your head.

Take a big breath in and a big breath out.

A couple more.

Deep breath in.

Open your mouth and sigh it out.
