Welcome to this candle gazing meditation.
This simple,
Powerful gazing meditation is good for grounding yourself and letting go of others' opinions of you.
The candle serves well as a Trishti point to help develop dharana focus.
I recommend using a small tea light candle or a battery operated candle.
To prepare,
Clear the area around you of any fire hazards.
Sit where the candle will be a comfortable distance to see its flame,
About two to three feet in front of you.
The candle should be at a height that does not cause any strain to your neck.
Dim the light softly if possible.
Bring yourself to a comfortable seat,
Ideally sitting upon a meditation cushion or pillow.
Center yourself with three deep breaths.
Now light the candle or turn on the battery.
Gaze into the candle and watch the flame as it dances.
Allow your breath to be natural.
Without straining your eyes,
Focus on the candle with minimal blinking.
Let your eyes adjust as they begin to see only the flame of the candle.
Your eyes may water.
Close them briefly and then reset your gaze.
We'll be here for three minutes.
Thanks.
