Please take a really comfortable position.
You might choose to lie down,
You might choose to sit up as long as you feel very very comfortable.
You can have your eyes open or closed and you can open or close your eyes whenever you like.
Take another moment and really make yourself very comfortable,
Feeling very supported.
And very gently bring your attention to your breath,
Your natural breath.
There's no need to try and breathe in any particular way.
Gently noticing your natural breath in and your natural breath out.
As much as you can,
Allow your breath to become very smooth and very relaxed.
Not trying to breathe in any particular way.
Noticing your smooth,
Relaxed,
Natural breath.
Allowing your breath to help you feel very calm,
Very centered and relaxed.
Bring your awareness to the very base of your spine.
This is where Muladhara chakra is located,
The root chakra.
Take a few minutes,
A few moments and with curiosity,
Explore and notice any sensations you might notice around the base of your spine.
Maintain your awareness at the base of your spine and return your attention to your breath.
So now you're maintaining your focus at the base of your spine as well as on your breathing.
When your mind wanders,
Gently bring your attention back to your breath and back to the base of your spine.
If it's easy to maintain your awareness either on your breath or the base of your spine,
Choose one of those and allow your attention to settle there.
And now bring to mind the colour red.
This is the colour associated with Muladhara chakra.
You could sense that red colour in any way you like.
Perhaps imagining the red colour of an apple or a flower,
A balloon.
In your mind's eye,
Allow that redness to liquefy or become a red mist or to transform into a red light.
And imagine it bathing,
Soaking and surrounding the base of your spine.
Sensing a cleansing red liquid or red glowing light or red healing mist all around the base of the spine.
This chakra represents your right and responsibility to be alive.
Your right to be here and to have your needs met.
Resolving and letting go of fear is healthy and it's one of the lessons of this chakra.
To help integrate these lessons into your whole being,
You could repeat the following statements either out loud or silently.
I have the right to be here.
I have the right to have my needs met.
I have the right to be here.
I have the right to have my needs met.
Notice what happens when you say these statements to yourself.
I have the right to be here.
I have the right to have my needs met.
How do you react to these basic rights?
You could now also repeat.
I release and let go of my fears.
I am safe.
I am brave.
I am safe.
I am brave.
The next part of the meditation involves the mantra of the of Mooladhara chakra and the mantra of this chakra is Lam.
And when you make the sound Lam,
It will send a healing vibration that can help strengthen and balance this first chakra.
You can either say Lam out loud or you could say it silently.
Take a full breath in and then repeat the sound of Lam out loud while you breathe out.
Lam,
Lam,
Lam,
Lam,
Lam.
Continue doing this with every breath,
Maintaining your awareness at the base of your spine.
Lam,
Lam,
Lam,
Lam,
Lam.
You might even start to feel the sound Lam vibrating at the base of your spine.
Now you could take some time to focus either on the location,
The colour or the affirmations associated with Mooladhara chakra.
Follow your own inclination.
You could focus on the sensations at the base of the spine or the colour red or your right and responsibility to be alive,
To release fear,
To feel safe or perhaps you'd like to continue to repeat Lam,
Lam,
Lam.
And begin the transition back.
Perhaps notice your natural breath again.
Noticing whatever it is that's supporting you,
Floor perhaps,
Chair,
Listening to sounds you might hear and becoming more and more aware of your breath.
And when it feels right,
Introduce a little movement back to the body.
It might just be your tongue or your eyes,
Fingers,
Toes.
Perhaps open and close your eyes a few times.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation on Mooladhara chakra.
