In today's practice,
We'll take a gentle,
Meditation focusing on our chakras.
In Sanskrit,
The word chakra means disc or wheel and this refers to the different energy centers in your body.
These wheels are spinning energy and they correspond to different nerve bundles and major organs of the body.
There are seven main chakras that run along the spine.
They start at the root or the base of our spine and extend all the way up to the crown of the head.
In this meditation,
We will take a moment to focus on each chakra one at a time from the base of the spine all the way up to the top.
Focus on the color of each chakra,
What it means,
And then choose an affirmation for each chakra as well.
When you're ready,
Go ahead and find your comfortable position to meditate in right now.
That can be either seated in a chair,
On your couch,
Or on the floor.
You can use the wall for support or the back of a chair.
If sitting up is not comfortable for you to meditate,
You could also lie down or you could even stand up.
The only thing that's important is that you have a long spine open through your body and you can relax.
Try to find somewhere where you might feel comfortable closing your eyes,
But if you prefer to keep your eyes open that's fine as well.
Once you've found your comfortable position and you feel comfortable doing so,
Allow your eyes to gently close.
Start to focus your awareness on your breath and breathe gently in and out through your nose.
Try to release any pressure to make your breath be a certain length.
Rather,
Breathe in when you feel you need to and breathe out when you feel you're ready.
And in between your in and out breaths,
Feel free to explore the pause of stillness as long as you want.
Begin to notice your spine and try to create a long spine without putting any strain on your back,
But rather comfortably long or tall.
And begin to imagine your spine as a column of light,
White shining light,
From the base all the way to the top.
Begin to focus your awareness at the very base of your spine.
This is where your root chakra is.
Imagine a small spinning wheel at the base of your spine shining red in color.
A root chakra represents home for us and home for you could mean where you're from or where you choose to be.
Home is wherever you put your roots down and feel safe and comfortable.
The root chakra is associated with our identity,
So in choosing an affirmation for this chakra,
Formulate your statement as I am.
Traveling up the spine to our sacral chakra,
Located along the spine a little bit higher than the root chakra just above the genitals and below the navel.
Picture here the spinning orange wheel.
And the sacral chakra is where our emotions come.
Sometimes it's hard to accept certain emotions or if we're labeled as emotional it can be hard to express fully,
But the sacral chakra reminds us that our emotions no matter what they are are appropriate and valid.
An affirmation for your sacral chakra can be in the form of I feel.
Traveling up the spine to the solar plexus chakra located just above your navel.
Imagine a spinning yellow wheel of light.
The solar plexus chakra is our center of self-esteem,
Reminds us of our confidence and our worth,
Is our center of power.
Choose an affirmation for your solar plexus chakra that begins with I can.
Continue traveling along your spine up to your heart chakra.
This is located right in the center of your chest.
Imagine it as a wheel glowing with a light green light.
Our hot chakra is our center of love.
This could mean acceptance and compassion for ourselves but also for others,
For situations,
For all things.
An affirmation for your heart chakra could begin with I love.
Moving up the spine we'll pause next at our throat chakra.
This is located right in the center of your throat.
Picture it as a spinning blue wheel.
The throat chakra is our center of self-expression,
How we communicate and speak our truths.
Choose an affirmation for your throat chakra that begins as I speak.
Continue moving up into your third eye chakra and this is located in your head right between your eyebrows and can be visualized as a dark blue spinning wheel.
The third eye chakra is our center of intuition.
It holds the key to our vision and perception of ourselves and everything that we see and feel.
Choose an affirmation for your third eye chakra that begins with I see.
And last we'll travel to our crown chakra right at the top of the head.
Picture it as a spinning wheel of purple white light.
Our crown chakra is our center of knowing,
Our connection to our spirit into the universe where we feel the source of wisdom and all things.
An affirmation for your crown chakra can begin with I know.
Continue picturing your spine as this column of white glowing light.
Now place the spinning wheel along your spine and the colors of each chakra from the base all the way to the top.
Reflect on these centers of power,
Your affirmations for each one and know that you can come back to this feeling just by speaking or thinking your affirmation aloud to yourself.
Continue to breathe in and out through your nose.
Whenever you feel ready gently allow your eyes to blink open.
And have a great rest of your day.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Namaste.
