Through following the soothing words Nina offers, and melting into the calming background music, we will be able to release tension, pain and stress from our body and mind. Music Smooth and cool,

A guided meditation for headache relief.

Learning to relax is very effective in providing relief from headaches.

Relaxation helps you to influence physical responses that are usually automatic,

Such as blood flow,

Muscle tension,

The main causes of tension,

Headaches,

Migraines.

Just by reversing the physical cause of your headache,

It is possible to achieve relief just by learning to relax.

Make yourself comfortable lying down or seated upright and focus on your breath.

Slow,

Deep,

Calm breathing.

Close your eyes.

Feel a softness as you inhale a sense of deep calm.

And just gently exhale.

Inhaling in,

Count for four.

And exhale out five.

And every exhalation just visualize and sense that you're exhaling away any tension.

Just letting go.

Softening and deepening.

Go inward.

Allow the feeling of relaxation to grow with every breath.

The calmer you become,

The more relaxed you become.

The less you're experiencing a headache,

You're learning to let it go.

Feel the top of your neck,

Your jaw,

Your cheeks relaxing.

Relax your teeth and your tongue apart.

And just sense your whole body relaxing on an inhalation from your toes all the way up to your head.

Like a big wave.

And on the next exhalation,

Exhale out any worries,

Any fear,

Any pain.

Exhale out the tension that's causing your headache.

Just exhale it out like a wave from the top of your head to your toes.

Bring your sense awareness to your face.

Notice specifically where the pain is causing your headache is located.

Inhale in,

A soft,

Smooth breath into this area.

And again when you exhale,

Imagine exhaling away any pain,

Any tension.

Bring your awareness to your forehead.

Sense that your forehead is smooth.

Sense its coolness.

Feel the coolness,

Almost as if you have ice close to your skin.

Allow the feeling of this smooth coolness to move along the surface of your face.

Easing into your eyebrows,

Cheeks,

Chin,

Eyes.

Sense the coolness spreading to the top of your head,

The back of your head.

The coolness enveloping its way around your head.

The whole head surrounded by a smooth coolness.

Soothing coolness.

Feel your body relaxing more as the tension,

As your headache releases more and more.

Allow the rhythm of your breath to help you relax,

Release and let go.

Feel the sense of relaxation moving along with the coolness in your head,

Icy coolness.

Feel any pain dissipating,

Dissolving,

Flowing away from you.

Enjoy the feeling of headache really.

The only thing that's left is a softness,

Smooth coolness.

Going deeper and deeper into this space of ease,

Space of peace and tranquility.

Into the softness.

Into the coolness.

Let your headache just melt away from you.

Feeling a gentle calm.

Feeling space.

Feeling cool and smooth.

I found the teacher’s voice and background music soothing. I found my breathing became smoother while she was talking about the coolness. Not necessarily deeper but easier. And appreciated that there was no ending bell in case I had been able to sleep. I think this technique would be useful for the whole body (I have fibromyalgia.) Thank you for offering this.

This meditation actually did help me release a lot of tension I had from a migraine. I am a regular sufferer from headaches so this one is bookmarked. I enjoyed the breathe in for 4, and out for 5 technique. Another thing that really helped me throughout this meditation was visualizing the pain dissipating away with relaxation and the breath. I visualized pain as red wisps being taken away with every exhale, and cool blue wisps coming in with every inhale to the site of pain. Being aware of biofeedback is a powerful thing. Thank you for this meditation.
