It is time for Yoga Nidra,
A practice of consciously entering the body.
Our deepest truths are stored in our bodies and through this practice we will open into them.
We begin by lying down in Shavasana,
Corpse pose.
This pose is done passively on your back with feet at hips width apart and arms slightly out.
Taking time to make yourself as comfortable as possible,
Which may include a pillow under the knees,
A covering over the eyes,
A scented oil or incense,
Perhaps a blanket over your body.
Gently settle into your cocoon.
In your heels,
Generate a little movement throughout your whole body.
Taking a moment to sigh out any distracted thoughts,
To arrive fully into this moment.
Once you have arrived,
Try not to move for the entire practice to deepen the experience.
With your mouth closed and tongue placed lightly behind the teeth at the roof of your mouth,
Allow breath to spill in through your nose.
Cool spirited air that flows with ease into your body as the belly gently rises with the expanding of your lungs.
Exhaling,
Allow the air to fall out of you effortlessly.
Gently sinking back towards the earth and warm air exiting from your nose back into the world around you.
As you breathe in,
Become curious about your body and begin to explore.
Do you feel a light sensation at the crown of your head?
Is there any tension in your scalp,
Between your eyes,
In your jaw?
Simply notice and send the breath to those places as you exhale.
Inhaling,
Allowing the air to fall in.
Exhaling,
Sending the breath into your body.
Tune in to the sensation of clothing against your skin,
The air against your skin.
Breathe into ease and comfort.
You are safe here.
Inhaling,
Exhaling.
Can you let your heart soften a little?
Can you let your shoulders soften a little?
Your hips?
As you continue to explore the body,
Begin to bring focus to the sounds around you.
First those off in the distance,
Then those just outside the room,
Then to the sounds just outside your body.
Each sound you hear is a vibration.
Even those sounds you do not hear are vibrating.
Can you feel them?
The trees nearby,
Plants inside.
The earth beneath you,
The structure of the building that holds you.
The walls,
The colors of paint,
Your clothing,
You.
Allow a subtle,
Gentle vibration to inhabit your body.
It is the color of safety,
The color of healing,
And expansion.
With expansion in mind,
Allow your sankalpa to arrive naturally.
Your sankalpa is a short,
Positive statement that arises from the heart,
Spoken in the present tense,
As though it is already unfolding.
It is a seed planted in the soil of your being that supports your journey in this moment.
A few examples which you are welcome to use are,
I am at peace,
I have clarity of purpose,
I am whole,
Or whatever else may arise.
Let your sankalpa emanate from the core of your being out into the world around you,
Connecting you,
Accepting you.
A world that acknowledges your deepest wisdom.
Let your sankalpa resonate three times from this place.
We will now journey through the body.
Simply bring a gentle awareness to each body part that is named,
And try to remain conscious and aware.
But know that even if you fall asleep,
Your body will still be listening and benefiting from this experience.

We will now bring our attention to a series of images.
Hold the image in your mind for a moment and let it go.
A calm,
Still lake.
A mountain reflected in the water.
With snow capped peaks.
A circular ripple.
A peaceful lake floor.
A night sky.
Vast and expansive.
Wilderness.
Safety.
A mountain cave.
A fire inside the cave.
Burning brightly.
Looking into the fire you feel its warmth.
And listen.
It is calm and steady.
While also determined and primal.
You feel your sun kalpa reflected back to you with this same presence.
Of both strength and certainty.
And a calm,
Steady nature.
Let your sun kalpa return to you.
And from the very core of your being repeat the vibration three times.
Slowly becoming aware of your breathing.
Notice the rise and fall of your belly and chest.
Feel the firelight continue to ripple through you.
From the crown of your head to the tips of your toes.
And out through your fingertips.
Becoming aware of the sounds around you.
And the weight of your body on the ground.
Notice the feelings of ease and where you feel strength.
Notice in your mind.
Where the ground is.
Where the walls are.
The plants.
And your place amidst them all.
Without opening your eyes.
Begin to transition back into movement.
Fingers and toes.
Gently pulsing your heels.
Be mindful with your movements.
Doing each with easeful purpose.
Rolling to one side and resting for a few breaths.
Pushing yourself into a seated position.
Grateful that you showed up for yourself today.
And recognizing any other gratitude you may be feeling in this moment.
The practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.
You may open your eyes.
And go slowly.
