I want to offer today a little bit of a mini deep seeing practice,
Which is the practice that I work with creatives on finding clarity and calm and more creativity.
But as a lead into it,
I want to offer a little bit of a prompt.
So,
We'll begin with a little bit of meditation and I invite you in that process to make it your own.
If you have your own practice,
You're welcome to dive into that right now.
If you don't have your own practice,
The invitation is to be aware of your breath and your body for a few minutes,
As well as letting your thoughts drift in and out as they do,
As if your thoughts are just one more of your senses.
Not something to be controlled,
But something to be noticed.
And just sitting in awareness and compassion.
So you can close your eyes if that's comfortable and relaxing.
If it's not relaxing to close your eyes,
Then just gaze downwards and find a body posture that balances relaxation and alertness,
Inviting a sense of dignity into the body,
Dropping into the breath,
Noticing your natural breath as it comes in and out,
Noticing the sound of your breath,
If you can hear that,
Or the sensation of breath as it shows up in different parts of your body.
And just noticing what you notice in your experience with open awareness and with an intentional turn towards compassion.
And I want to invite you to orient towards your thoughts now.
And just ask yourself,
What question has been most occupying your mind lately?
What question has been most occupying your mind lately?
If it's supportive,
You can take a piece of paper and write some things out.
Maybe write that down.
And when you're clear on what question has been most occupying your mind lately,
If any,
You can come on back to eyes open.
And just take a moment to let yourself look all around this image.
Just taking in the anatomy of the image,
All the layers and parts,
Noticing where your eyes like to go,
Noticing anything you feel particularly curious about or drawn to,
Noticing anything that you feel particularly averse to,
Anything you don't like in the image.
And then you can close your eyes one more time or gaze downwards and go back to your internal space,
Noticing what you notice there.
Maybe in the realm of sensation or thought,
Emotion.
Connecting with your feet and your seat as you bring the image into your mind's eye.
When you bring that image into your mind's eye,
Notice what stands out to you,
What feels important.
And you can come back again to looking with eyes open when you're ready.
Noticing what stands out to you now.
And then bring your question,
The question that has been most occupying your mind lately,
To this image.
And just look with the question in your heart,
In your mind.
And just sort of gently holding the question.
One more layer to look through.
And maybe take a minute to ask yourself whether this question is a question that needs resourcing or is it a question that wants to be let go.
Or maybe it's not a binary,
Maybe there's something of both or neither.
And then taking whatever glimmers this may have offered you,
You can turn to a piece of paper and or close your eyes and return to your internal space.
And notice if this image had any sort of a message for you.
Take a moment to write it down or let it land in your mind.
And then letting that go as you feel ready.
Take a moment to notice your intention for coming here today.
