So,
I want to invite us into a little bit of a guided meditation centering around sensations of wanting,
Desire,
And really bringing us into a sense of what it is that creativity is desiring to come through us,
What it is that we are desiring to feel and experience through our creative process.
So,
I invite you to close your eyes,
If it's comfortable to close your eyes,
And if that's not comfortable you can gaze downwards.
Finding a posture that balances a sense of alertness and relaxation in your body,
Letting yourself feel your body's connection to the ground through your feet and seat,
And letting your body elevate upwards through the spine,
The neck,
The crown of the head.
Welcoming in any need to move,
Rock,
Stretch,
Twist.
Any need to make a little bit of sound,
Vibrate the lips,
A little horse breath,
And then settling back in,
Though you are always welcome to move as it supports your presence,
As it supports your compassionate awareness.
Compassionate awareness being the goal of mindfulness practice.
You can bring your attention to your body,
To your mind,
Your awareness to your breath.
Noticing how it feels as it flows in and out of your body all in its own opening space inside of you.
You can bring your awareness into your jaw,
Releasing and relaxing the jaw.
Bring your attention to your brow,
Softening the brow.
Focus your attention on the top of your head,
The back of your head,
The base of the neck,
Relaxing the head and the neck,
And inviting that relaxation to spill down the back,
The arms,
The hips,
The legs,
Into the ankles and the feet,
And into the earth.
Letting the air out.
And then you can bring your attention to the area of the heart and the chest,
Feeling the front,
Back,
And sides of the heart.
Noticing non-judgmentally whatever you notice in your heart,
Whether it's a sense of numbness or contraction,
Or a sense of discomfort,
Or tension,
Whether it's a sense of openness and brightness.
Just letting what is be what is in the sensations around the heart and chest.
And drop your awareness down a little bit deeper into the diaphragm,
The area of the solar plexus at the top of the stomach,
The base of the ribcage.
Noticing the space in the center of you,
The front,
Back,
And sides.
Notice what's here in the way of sensation in the diaphragm,
Solar plexus area.
And noticing what's here in the way of energy.
Gently allowing what is to be what is.
And you can drop your awareness down even a little bit deeper into the belly,
Into the pelvis.
Letting the belly be soft.
Letting the belly be as it is.
Noticing what's here with an attempt to be loving and accepting.
And including within that circle of love and acceptance,
Awareness of what is welcome for the experience of maybe not feeling loving and accepting.
Allowing the body to be as it is in the belly,
In the diaphragm,
In the heart.
And your energy around those spaces.
And also allowing it to be as it is in your thoughts towards those spaces.
And also,
Notice these areas of your body as places of desire.
Places in you where you may feel wanting.
And see if you can experiment with letting wanting happen.
Letting wanting happen right now,
Right inside your sensations.
See if you can approach those sensations with a sense of curiosity and inquiry.
Is there a longing in the heart,
In the belly?
Is there a desire?
Is it safe enough for that longing to be true?
See if it's possible to give yourself fully to experience in this moment.
And as you offer an attitude of listening,
See if there's a sense of wonder,
Curiosity,
Or interest.
What does your desire want from you?
What does it want you to know or notice?
What does it want you to make or feel?
What does it want you to do or do?
And if you gave that longing in you a name,
Maybe something like creativity,
Something like hunger,
What would it have to say?
So as you listen and notice I want to invite you to,
If it feels right,
To shift to a journal and write down anything that is coming to you.
And if it's helpful,
You can start with a little prompt,
A little sentence fragment.
Creativity wants me to,
Or my desire to,
Or my desire to do something that my desire wants me to.
I listened to my hunger and it said.
And you can take the next couple of minutes to do some free writing.
Feel free to pause the meditation here and continue writing as long as it serves you.
And when you're ready for a transition,
See if you can offer yourself some appreciation for your efforts,
Regardless of how that was for you.
