This meditation we are exploring being aware of awareness.

Take time to allow the body and mind to arrive.

Take time to allow the heart to connect.

Building with things just as they are in this moment.

To the extent that you can relax the body,

Relax the mind.

Relax and soften into awareness.

Let this be a process of inhabiting your experience.

Notice how awareness moves to different objects.

Focusing a thought,

A sensation,

A sound,

Then perhaps resting with the breath.

And it's quite natural for awareness to move in this way.

Not reaching out to objects,

Settling back.

One object after another being known.

Sometimes,

You might have just one object at a time in awareness.

And at other times,

There may be many objects in quick succession through different senses.

The awareness can feel very quick and mobile.

And one is not better than the other.

Whichever it is,

One object persisting over time or many objects in quick succession,

The job of awareness is the same.

It's just to notice what's happening.

Every now and again,

It can be helpful to check the quality of the awareness.

Or another way we can talk about it is to check the mood in the mind.

Check for any particular colouring that might be influencing how you're aware.

And let that mood itself become an object in experience.

It can feel very close or familiar,

The mood,

Like a second skin.

Or the wallpaper on a room that we walk into many times,

But we don't really notice that particular patterning or colouring.

But now we allow awareness to notice it.

Awareness too has its own mood,

Its own scent.

And you can perhaps begin to explore that scent or colouring of the mind that's aware.

You don't need to look hard for it.

Just tune in.

It's like the air that we breathe all around.

Discernible if we're really relaxed and present.

In any given moment,

There will be some object arising through the senses.

And when we're present,

There will be the knowing of that object.

And this knowing quality of awareness is subtle.

But as the mind settles,

We can tune into it.

We're allowing the nature of awareness to be known.

And more and more just rest with the awareness.

Let more attention rest with the mind that's knowing.

The qualities,

Flavours of awareness itself.

Let more awareness rest with the mind that's knowing.

Perhaps becoming aware of any pleasure from being present.

From being in the present moment.

Being right there.

Like a butterfly landing on a leaf.

With lightness and precision.

Awareness and object.

When we feel this pleasure and ease connected with the present moment,

It can help us more easily be able to recognise awareness.

To see and feel its nature and character.

Understanding the mind.

Appreciating its efforts,

Its attentiveness and knowing.

And the moments of clarity.

Delusion mind inclines towards the status quo.

Wisdom mind inclines towards awakening.

Recognising what's happening.

In any given moment,

Object and the knowing,

The awareness will be there together.

What does the awareness feel like in the mind?

And asking as an open question.

Not necessarily expecting a response.

Getting into the quality of awareness.

Perhaps there's a degree of peacefulness or balance in the mind.

Perhaps a benign quality where the mind has no agenda in that moment.

Feeling into awareness,

We let it become more obvious.

We let the knowing quality of any object become clear.

And perhaps asking what,

If anything,

Is needed to support awareness in this moment.

We're keeping the initiative to staying present.

God supports the mind in being awake and relaxed.

You example.

We can clearly know what's helpful to continuity of awareness in any given moment.

Perhaps it's simply the continued recognition of awareness present in each moment.

Just notice how awareness comes with one object after another.

A sound object,

An emotion,

Sensation,

Different objects,

Same quality of awareness,

An awareness that knows the object for what it is.

This is a mind that has some wisdom working with the mindfulness.

Wisdom that recognises object and awareness as momentary arisings,

Impersonal and free.

This is a mind that has some wisdom working with the awareness present in each moment.
